Toddler not eating

Anonymous

He’s been picky and not eating much(only certain foods he would eat) but now he’s not even eating those. He drinks milk all day and won’t touch food like crackers, fresh fruits, sandwich, chicken bugs, fries, pizza, Mac n cheese, cereal, I even gave him a coke earlier because he hasn’t at a single thing I’ve gave him all day today and he even handed the cookie back... I know people say ask your doctor.. no don’t wanna hear that.. doctors say the same thing to everyone and I already know what they gonna say. People also say kids won’t starve themselves.. I’m pretty sure he is. Help

My kid gets like that too. I even have the First Steps program working with me. I have let him have milk for most of the day some days. As long as he has wet diapers and a bowel movement every couple days I’m not worried. They said it is worse to force them to eat and I feel terrible when I try

He isn't starving himself if he is drinking milk. Does he have all his teeth? If not, he could be teething, so chewing may hurt. Try smoothies, fruit and veggie pouches, oatmeal. Things that are easy to eat. And if you want him to have more food and less milk, only give him milk at certain times and teach him that the rest of the time is for food. He will hold off for a few days, but he will eventually give in if you are consistent.

My son is like this too. Won’t eat for a week then eats for days straight.... roller coaster. But I think it’s normal...ish. They have those pediasure drinks for toddlers? Maybe try that... at least you’d know he’d get nutrients that way

My daughter just went through something like this, wouldn’t eat anything except grapes, yoghurt, and a strawberry-banana smoothie. I kept making her different foods including her favorites and she kept saying yuck to everything; wouldn’t eat anything substantial, then 2 days passed and she ate everything in her path. I don’t know why she wasn’t eating and why she started eating again, but I wouldn’t stress too much about it, everyone keeps saying their toddlers do this. I just kept hiding veggies and a little bit of oatmeal in her smoothies. I think as long as your child is growing you shouldn’t worry too much

The difference with me and all of these stories is your child is eating after a few days or a week of not eating.. mine never touches those foods.
