Toddler refuses sippy cups

Anonymous

My son will be 2 in May and he still won’t use a sippy cup. We have been trying to get him off the bottle but he won’t use the cups. Anyone have or had this problem? What did you do?

Have you tried different cups? Also, just take the bottles away and only give him a sippy cup as an option. He will protest for a bit, but then eventually when he realizes it is all he has, he will give in.

Maybe try the 360 Degree sippy cups. They are no spill and my son took to it right away. It's shaped like a cup but there is a rubber piece that covers the top that they press (with regular drinking motion) and it let's the liquid out.

Can you try just a straw cup? I drink from one all the time and my daughter showed an interest in them bc of that. Maybe you can drink from one and see if he’ll want to copy.

At this age I see a lot of kids with regular water bottles. You can get them at Walmart or Target for around $10 in the home goods section. Try getting one for each of you, lo gets to do what you do. Just make sure you wash all the parts thoroughly, they collect mold if you don't.
