Tongue tie

My son has a tongue tie. He is 14 months and we just noticed it now. He had terrible reflux when he was little but our pediatrician never checked for tongue tie. So, my question is has anyone had tongue tie fixed on a toddler and what are the pros/cons?

Following!!! My son is 22 months and is in speech therapy. His therapist thinks he might have a tongue tie and his speech delay could be because of it. How did you see it? He won’t let us check but we have an appointment with the Ear Nose and Throat Dr in a few weeks. I hope it works out for you, please keep us updated 💕

I believe they can and will fix it at any age and it’s beneficial for a lot of reasons from eating to speech development. Go with what your Dr says.

We just noticed when he sticks out his tongue it doesn’t go out much and forms like a heart shape at the tip. The speech delay is what I’m worried about. My pediatrician was awful and didn’t even tell us his reflux could have been from tongue tie. It could have saved us many months of picking up vomit. Ugh. She also didn’t tell us we should see an eye doctor for his blocked tear duct so there were too many red flags with her. We are going to find someone else.

Do they sedate them at that age? Just curious...we had my son’s revised when he was a month or so....just wondering how it works when they are older.

We had it fixed at 9 months while he was under getting tubes in his ear due to terrible ear infections due to terrible reflux! The dr told us the earlier the better and it was so easy very little blood and he didn’t even feel it after. The mouth is the fastest healer in the body. Do it soon as possible.

Kelly- do you think they would have sedated your son if he hadn’t been under already? I’m so glad to hear it worked out for you guys!
