Your LO will be trying food for the first time ever? There’s two approaches I guess - purées or BLW. Start with single ingredient foods to ensure they aren’t allergic... for 3-5 days and then you can try a new food. We did purées for the first two months of offering food. I was told by our pediatrician to start with veggies, then fruits. Then you can start mixing them if you want. I used breastmilk in my purées to thin them out but you can use water or formula. We started offering food at 5 months. By 7 months my son started refusing purées so we switched to BLW and offered him food we were eating but small and squishable stuff. As a rule of thumb, offer stuff that can be squished between your index and thumb (for size and mashable reference). Avoid allergens until your pediatrician gives you the green light to try - eggs, nuts, shellfish, honey.

Try not to mix flavors first. Banana is always a good first choice. Mash it and make baby try it. For the first time it’s enough if your baby eats 2-3 spoon fulls. They need to get used to the new flavors and textures. Cooking carrots in baby water and pure them. Check guidelines for first foods. You can find out what babies not suppose to eat at this age and when can you introduce them.

We gave avacado first and I think it may have been a spur of the moment thing. I wanted to start with veggies so he didn’t crave sugary foods now he eats everything just about- except zucchini lol

Try one thing at a time and try it for a couple days in a row to make sure they are not allergic to the food. Small bites because the baby will not favor the texture at first but once he/she gets used to the process of eating new food they will learn to enjoy it better. Not to mention they usually sleep longer once they get more solid foods! :) hope this helps

We started with oatmeal in bottle while sitting up. Following with rice in bottle while sitting up. ( We know some people are against cereals in the bottle WE KNOW but we have no issues as long as he is sitting up, just make sure you do a size 3-4 nipple for the bottle and no air filter so the baby can actually suck it out )Than stage one baby food. Whatever you try do 3-4 days and move on to the next thing. Now we do oatmeal for breakfast, stage 1 puree for lunch and rice before sleep/dinner, all formula in between those. My LO is 5 mo.
