Transitioning from 2 naps to 1

What age did your LO transition from 2 naps to 1? My LO is almost 10 months and there are days (usually when she goes to daycare) when she takes a really short morning nap or not at all. She has also been waking up earlier and earlier in the morning (4:55am this morning 🤦‍♀️). Thanks!

My son is 15 months and still needs two naps a day on most days. 4:55 is brutally early! My son wakes that early, nurses a little bit and then goes back into his bed until 6:30 or 7. I don’t allow him to think it is wake up time so I keep everything very dimly lit while he nurses and gets a diaper change. I would try to work on that early morning wake up, especially if she is not really even having a morning nap.

I don't go get her until 5:45-6. She used to fall back to sleep, but the last few days she just hangs out and talks. Its great that she doesn't freak out, but it keeps me up lol

Yes I’m glad she’s not crying but it would keep me awake too. I can’t remember exactly with my firstborn, but I believe it was around 1 1/2 that he was done with two naps a day but your girl may be ready a tad earlier than that.

I just transitioned my 13 month old to 1 nap. I pushed morning nap to 11 for a few days he would sleep bout 60/75 mins. Then a short afternoon nap around 3.30/4. Bed around 6/6.30. He then increased night sleep to 12hrs not 11. So as we progressed i pushed nap to 11.30/12 for a couple of days and he would sleep about 90 mins and just kept early bed time. Now finally at nap 12-2 and sleep 6.30pm-7am of course it can vary slightly depending on teething etc but it seemed to be pretty smooth for him. What is your daughters typical day like with wake up and sleep times? 10 months still seems pretty early for 1 nap but some can be ready early. On average its about 18 months, im surprised my little one changed easily.

Thanks Kerry. I think it's too early too and that it's just hard for her to sleep for a long time at daycare. I will tell them to keep putting her down, even if it's for 20 mins. It also helps her make it til I can put her down for her second nap at 1:30
