Transitioning from a bottle. Help! We have tried 4 different sippy cups.

My daughter loves them if it is water but when it comes to milk she only wants her bottle. She still needs a bottle before her nap and bedtime. Best sippy cups you have found to work? Or tips? First time mom.

Had the same issue! Tried every cup! He was fine with water but not milk, had to just go cold turkey. It was rough but we got there!! This was the first type of cup we used that worked best.

Same situation!! My son is 16 months old and today’s nap was the first time using the sippy instead of a bottle and it just seemed to all of the sudden click for him. Now tonight, he’s in there just playing with the sippy but he isn’t crying!! I’m about to put all the bottles in the garage and hope for the best!

Daycare suggested juice (I did pineapple) just once for them to get curious and it worked.

We went cold turkey last weekend. It was really sad. He kept walking over to the fridge and saying “bottle!” But we didn’t give in, and eventually he realized he wasn’t getting his way. We offered a bunch of different options. He seems to like the spoutless 360 cups best. I think because they look like regular cups. And he can get milk/water from any angle. He still asks for “bottle” occasionally. But he’s getting better with the result being a cup. I have been a little looser with the pacifier. So he can get the sucking sensation. Or sometimes he’ll take a foos pouch instead.

My son, who is 8 now, was the same way. He drank juice and water from sippy cups no problem. Put milk into one and forget it. If I could go back and tell my first time mom self anything, it would be to stop putting so much pressure on him and myself, and ignore everyone who said he needs to drop the bottle. Your child will, but sometimes it has to be on their timetable. And there's nothing wrong with that! Go easy on her and yourself mama! You could always put a future date on the calendar that's "bye bye bottles" day and keep talking about it, then make a special outing on that day and let her choose her own brand new milk cup, and then offer it to her in that one with a lot of enthusiasm. Even if she takes one sip, make it a big deal. Hope that helps!
