Traveling on an airplane with my 10 month old son for the first time. Any tips, advice, or must have things I should bring along... from those who’ve traveled with an infant before?! 😊

My son flew from Boston to Hawaii at 4 months, to China at 15 months and plenty of other trips in between so we’ve got lots of experience. It’s good to have a bottle or sippy for take off and landing since the sucking helps with popping ears. Also bring lots of snacks and toys (more than you think you need) plus get new toys he hasn’t seen before, even if they’re just from the dollar store. I’d also recommend getting him his own seat if you can afford it, he’s probably at least used to sleeping in his car seat in the car, etc plus it’s safer. Luckily you can get up and walk around on a plane to stretch legs, change a diaper, etc and that goes a long ways. A compact stroller or baby carrier are super helpful when going through the airport too, especially with a wild child like my son who wants to run if he’s not strapped in to something. Also try to remember that flights create a lot of white noise so if your kid does cry it always seems worse to you than it really is. You’ll both do great!

Try to get some extra sleep the night before so that you can be best prepared to help your baby. That’s my best advice for sure. And here are a few more suggestions. Best of luck! A quiet soothing melody (we have an owl which plays a soft song when you pull the string) If you use a sound machine you could bring that (we play the vacuum sound on our iPhone for our girls and it works wonders) A drink to sip at liftoff and landing to soothe his ears Finger puppets (easy to carry, you can both use them) A pillow and blanket because it’s not super easy to sleep on a plane A few cheap dollar store toys (light up ball, stickers you can put on him, etc) which you can give every hour

Beautiful tips ladies. Thanks much. I will share them with my husband. To the dollar store we go!!!! I appreciate your advice. Will let you know how it went when we get back. 🤗 oh and how about clothes and diapers. Did you find it easier to over pack than pack the exact amount you thought you would need?

I always try to pack what I think I’ll need but always end up with way more diapers than we need! It also depends on where you’re traveling; if you’re in the US you should have no problem finding diapers if you run out. Good luck and have fun!!

My daughter did great at 9 Months, just needed a bottle and she slept. But at 15 Months she wasn’t bad but she didn’t sit, she was walking around when she got a chance to and was dancing and greeting everyone. It was great and everyone was really nice. I mean they rather that then a crying a baby the whole plane ride. It was just 3 hours but she was just into everything
