Tricks to increase my breast milk

I just had surgery last week and I feel like my breast milk supply has decreased. I use to make about 4 oz each time I pump whenever my LO is not hungry. Now I am only making 2 ounces if I am lucky. I am drinking plenty of fluids. What else can I do to help me increase my supply?

Oatmeal! I used to make a whole big tub of oatmeal with some fruit and nuts in it and heat it up if I had time in the mornings or just eat it cold. There are drinks and teas that say they help but I read a lot of mixed reviews and some people even said that the fenugreek in it decreased their supply. Now, I had 2 breast reduction surgeries in the past so there was just nothing that could be done about my supply but I had done a LOT of research and asking around. Oatmeal seemed to work best for most and power pumping.

Fenugreek capsules, mother’s milk tea (Mrs. Patel’s chai is my preferred), high protein diet

Hi Jessica! Try to nurse your little one as much as he/she will let you. This is will increase your supply since now your supply is directly correlated to your baby’s demand, rather then your hormones. Have you tried the Haakaa silicone cup? I use it during every feed and you would be pleasantly surprised how much milk it collects! I get a full feed collected by the end of the day! This doesn’t increase your supply but will help to collect all that milk that would normally go to waste. I’m part of a breastfeeding group on Facebook called the cleavage breastfeeding club and there’s lots of great info about this! Hang in there momma, breastfeeding is hard ❤️ also keep in mind you only need to pump 1-1.5oz per hour away from your babes.. (which I didn’t know until recently) and that your pump output is not a true indicator of your supply.. babies are way more efficient then a pump! Hopefully that will ease your worry. You are doing great!

Offer the breast as much as possible. Baby will latch if he/she is ready to eat. And power pumping.
