Trouble with sippy and milk at night

My 17 month old refuses to drink milk out of a hard sippy cup and it must be warm otherwise she won’t drink it unless she’s too hot. She’s waking up multiple times at night wanting to drink milk. She should be sleeping through the night. Right now I’m only offering her slightly warm milk in a hard sippy but she hasn’t drank much. Any ideas to help her sleep better at night and drink cold milk for a hard sippy cup?

My daughter is 3 yrs old in the winter I still warm her milk and give her in a soppy cup. You might have to go turkey on her until she realize there are no bottles. That’s what we did. She struggled for a few days but she has gotten use to it

As long as she’s eating and drinking throughout the day she shouldn’t need anything at night at this age as I’m sure you know. I would offer her a drink of milk before bed and leave a sippy cup of water in her crib if you’re worried about her being thirsty and just explain to her that she can have milk in the morning with her breakfast but not during the night. They understand a lot at this age and as far as not wanting to drink from a hard cup.. you may need to buy some different types until she finds one she likes. My son is 19 months and when I switched him to hard sippy cups a few months ago he rejected a couple brands and would only drink milk out of the brand Parents Choice from wal-mart. Now he’s not picky at all and will drink milk out of anything. But you may need to put your foot down with the night wakings and just tell her she can have water but no milk until breakfast time. She’ll def cry at first but if you don’t give in she’ll likely forget about wanting the milk throughout the night and then you both can get some much needed sleep. Also do you offer a snack a little before bed to help fill her up?

Have you tried the munchkin 360? Walmart has parents choice, it’s the same just cheaper. It helped us get away from all bottles & sippy cups. Also try to transition to cold milk during the day so she can get use to it.

She used to like that when she was younger but doesn’t care for it now.

My sons the same way and hes 2 almost 3 he wont wake up for one but he insists on 1 or 2 sippy cups of warm milk while laying down to sleep. I ended up buying a sippy cup with a soft top on it, because he wanted a bottle still and I wasnt with that personally at 3yrs old. I have now started giving him his sippy with milk 30 minutes before bed on the couch with me & then telling him this is our bed winding down & that were a big boy and we will have another sippy in the morning. He cried it out a few nights without it but so far so good.

Do not give a child anything to drink but water at night. Your mouth produces less saliva while asleep and sugar in milk or any drink other than water stays on the teeth and rapidly causes decay. My oldest ended up getting 2 teeth extracted because of this.
