@jj, Makes sense, it's linguistically muuch easier to say than mama

Lol, "mamma", at 5 months. It was more of a "sound", rather than a word. She still says it when she cries, but I don't think she knows what it means. :)

I forget how old but “Hi” was our oldest first word and we think “Da” for the newest kiddo.

My daughter ‘s first word was, of course, “da da,” but my mother-in-law swears my husband’s first word was, “damfy” (damn fly)!

My son’s was Mama... But, he’s 9 now and having so much fun with my 6 m/o niece, his first cousin. In the car the other day, out of nowhere he said, “She’s the cutest baby! I just hope her first word isn’t ‘Doritos’ or something like that...” 😂 What?!

    “Ball” around 9-10mos

She repeated "hi" back and forth by 2 months. Until a certain age, it's all just repetition of sounds, not use of language. It's crazy how long it takes for them to actually use words, with intention, to mean something.

“Mama” around 8 months but I’m pretty sure he didn’t know what it meant. The first word he said and actually showed us very clearly that he knew what it meant was “ball.”

At 4 mos. my son's first word was mama. Like the Jimmy Kimmel book, EVERYTHING was mama. Dada was mama, baba was mama, etc.

My son made the "ma" sound at 3 months and 3 weeks (I know). And now at 5 months and two weeks he responds with "mama" to most things.
