I waited until 8.5 months to introduce anything other than breastmilk.

All 3 of mine were BLW at 6 mth. Only breastmilk until then. I have had a great experience with Baby LED Weaning/Feeding. They are great eaters! My 4 year old never went through a picky stage and all 3 eat whatever we eat, spices and all. It’s a good option to research. It does require a lot of reading and research.

Our pediatrician said we could start after the 4 month checkup. For the first few weeks I just occasionally offered a taste of baby oatmeal mixed with breast milk, then at 5 months started purees. The research I did suggested exposure to potential allergens as purees/baby cereal between 4-6 months helps prevent food allergies, but baby led feeding (soft chunks of finger foods instead of purees) is better for long-term healthy eating habits. But, you can't start until closer to 6 months when they can sit better and have more hands control. So I'll start mixing in finger foods about 6 months.

We skipped it entirely. Did solid food (like scrambled eggs, etc) starting at 5 months.

No purées. We did baby led weaning with solid foods at 5 months with both kids. Basically as soon as they can sit up on their own. If your kid sits unassisted at an older age, wait until then.

Tried solid food at 6 months after breast milk exclusive. But he wasn’t eating enough and rejecting bottles so we ended up doing purée for 6 months to ensure he’s getting enough nutrients.

We did oatmeal/quinoa at 7 months. Then added veggie and very few fruit purée after that. Followed by fats (avocado, nut butters, soft cheese).

We started a few weeks shy of 5 months. We did puréed foods for about 2-3 weeks before trying soft solids as well. Continued with both until she went on a hard purée strike around 7.5-8 months.

4 months we gave a half a purée at lunch only, 5 months we went to lunch and dinner, slowly got chunkier, till she was eating everything from the table that we eat by 8 months and got mad when we tried to finish the store stuff, despite only having 6 teeth!
