When to start brushing?

My daughter is just about 6mo— no teeth yet but they’re right around the corner! I’ve noticed a significant change in her...breath and drool smell, haha. I was curious when an appropriate time would be to introduce some sort of dental care? I purchased those little gummy brushes that go over your finger, but haven’t attempted yet. She started solids 2x a day at 4mo and has been keeping that schedule regularly along with formula.

Most docs/dentists say to begin wiping gums daily from birth. I never kept up with it! Lol. But as soon as they have teeth, you should brush. And even floss as soon as they have two touching teeth.

At my 9 mo appointment my ped said to start as soon as he has teeth! She said just get a kids tooth brush and brush over teeth lightly without toothpaste, or the kids fluoride free kind. I got a little tooth brush and I keep it in the bath tub and we’ll play and brush with it as much as he’ll allow... he usually just bites on it lol but it is recommended to use those finger brushes or a washcloth from the start! Doesnt hurt to start now :)

For a baby on formula just use small sponges or the plastic brush and water
