When will this babe roll over?? He looks like he's strong enough, he's rolling to the side to sleep, but he just won't initiate the roll by himself. I can get him started and he'll easily do it but he won't without a little push from me...he's 5 months so I'm not worried so much as confused since it seems like he CAN do it but just isn't....

Sounds like all the pieces are in place! I'm sure he can do it. My sons both would roll to their back and then get stuck and cry, so maybe he's just smart enough to not put himself in that position 😂

Really? Oh lol all my apps talked about "at 4 months your baby may be rolling!" So I was like....ummm nope not yet...knowing it's a 6 month thing makes me feel better

Maria, I feel like my apps say things like that too and get me worried for no reason!

My experience, not all babies will roll over on their own. When you are playing with your baby on the floor, with music, roll back and forth on your own back. This makes it fun and your baby will want to imitate your action. And there really isn’t a set time line for rolling over, some are faster, some takes time, and never. :) don’t stress out over it. :)

There is a HUGE range for age on all those milestones, rolling over, crawling, walking. So don’t trust the apps too much. And I’ve discovered it’s much more about their interest in doing something rather than what they seem capable of. If you want to encourage him bringing him to story time or some location with other babies crawling around will probably help. That being said my younger son walked a month later than my first born even with watching his brother run around. He focused on language first, then walking.

No worries. All kids grow at different paces. Btw. He’s adorable 😊

Don’t worry about it too much. He’ll roll over on his own time. Then sit up, crawl, and walk. And next thing you know, you’ll be missing the days he hasn’t been moving too much. 😂

Our daughter hating rolling over. Not a big deal if he takes his time. She sure did. :-)

My pediatrician once told me that she thinks the rolling over milestone is the most usesless milestone. It made me giggle a little and feel a lot better. She said they'll do it when they want to.
