Which baby carrier for 5 Month old

Eli

Hi parents !! I haven’t been using a baby carrier so far for my 5 month old. I borrowed a baby Bjorn one for a little bit, but it was not comfortable to me and my baby boy didn’t like to face me while carrying him. But now that my baby can hold his head and since he likes facing forward, I was thinking about getting a carrier. I have a 16 month old too, so it would make my life easier to wear him 😅 My baby is very tall , so he is pretty heavy too. I wanted something that doesn’t put too much strain on my back. And a carrier that could last for a long time . It’d be great to hear your opinions . Thanks so much!!!

Try to find a store that sells many styles and brands which will help you try them on and pick what is right for you. I have a sash mei and a Tula. I like them both for different times. I also have wraps and slings, but find they take more time and are a pain when I have an impatient child.

Definitely check out the Gemini. It was the only one I found comfortable for my daughter who only wanted to forward face. It crosses in the back which tends to help with the strain.

Lillebaby has an add on lumbar pad and does forward facing. Mine does cross back but some models don't. The best thing for my back though is using the back carry position.

Moby wraps were awesome for us. It didn't strain my back much until the kids were pretty big, (+18 mo.). My quads got pretty sore on occasion, but that was more because the kids liked to be bounced than for any other reason.

I love my Ergo! It transitions nicely from a front carrier for little ones to a back carrier for bigger babes. It never hurts my back and it’s survived two kids so far!
