Wow. Just wow. You need to come eat here now. I read the reviews about this place and thought to myself, "it can't be that good" must be all hype. I was so wrong. Best Indian food I've ever had in my life--and I've had a lot. Super family friendly and attentive staff. Felt very welcomed and taken care of. Worth the 40 min drive. Here's a pic of little man covered in food up to his elbows.

We graduated today! Little man walked on the stage with me. Yay. Next step: bar exam.

Yummy food, very accommodating for kids, they usually sit all the families in the middle of the restaurant that is slightly elevated from the bar by the entrance, and the back dining area. Plenty of highchairs. Their food is fresh and delicious, would be nice place to treat yourself to a somewhat fancier Japanese dinner. Little man enjoyed playing with the fake light from the candle holder. :)

As a mother, this hits me deeply. Venezuela is starving. I have never known true hunger, but I have seen it many times. It shocks the conscience. We are extremely lucky in more ways than one. This was a difficult but necessary read, so please do. "At the Domingo Luciani Hospital in Caracas, Ms. Planchart cried when she recalled the ways she tried to feed baby Jean Pierre and her four othe... More

"The Compassion Experience" is a really cool FREE event that I hope some of you can attend. This is a great opportunity to teach compassion to older kids (but we will be bringing our toddler as well). "What is The Compassion Experience? Just in case anyone missed this hilarious tidbit 🤣 "How to raise a child in 2017: Make sure your child's academic, emotional, psychological, mental, spiritual, physical, nutritional, and social needs are met while being careful not to overstimulate, under stimulate, improperly medicate, helicopter, or neglect them in a screen-free, processed foods free, GMO free, negative energy free,... Trusted's hourly rates now start at $15! Yay! We love Trusted for childcare, esp for last minute requests. This seems a lot more fair--to pay commensurate with experience. https://blog.usetrusted.com/flexible-pricing-hourly-rates-now-start-at-15-hr-dce2b6fefd8d

Has anyone read this book "Free to Learn: Why unleashing the instinct to play will make our children happier, more self-reliant, and better students for life"? I really enjoyed the review and lessons below: "I remember as a teenager, I was doing a task and my little sisters came to help, I told them to go away. I have never forgotten the words of my father "If they offer t... More

We went to Sunday Streets today, where they shut down "1-4 miles of city streets into car-free spaces for community health and connection" We walked by the booth hosted by the San Francisco Public Library and won a book! (Everyone wins). We picked "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs"--this happened to be one of my favorites growing up bc I loved food so much. :) More info a... More

What are your thoughts on sending your child to a language immersion school vs teaching them the language later in life. Do you know of anyone who is truly bilingual in another language that did not start learning the language at a young age? I am fluent in two languages and proficient in two others, so I am especially interested in helping my child become trilingual because I think it would b... More

Sometimes the cruelest joke is when I have to search for my glasses when I can't see. The culprit who hid my glasses is currently double fisting cookies.

We loved the Meadowlark Music Class at Charlie's corner today. Drop in sessions are $16, and normally $15 if you sign up for the class. Little man had such a great time playing with all the musical instruments.

For those who live in older buildings, here is a great resource for free lead testing. This is a free service provided by the city. They will talk you through the process, schedule a time to come take samples. Once results are in they will call you with any concerns and send the info along to your landlord for next steps. Call XXX-XXXX https://www.sfdph.org/dph/eh/CEHP/Lead/

Here are some excellent gift ideas (that aren't toys) for your own kids (seems to be mostly applicable for older children) but I'm bookmarking this for later! (I have such a hard time with not buying more toys for my little guy so I appreciate ideas like these.) Do you have any other gift ideas/tips to add? http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/XXX-XXXX

The Hungarians don't take story time lightly. We were treated to quite a production at the library. Tales of dragons and saviors. Little man had a great time.

This article really resonated with me, esp after having a really judgy non-parent woman on our flight try to school me on how to comfort my child. (She told me I should be patting his back when he cries instead of trying to breastfeed him to comfort him 🙄, coupled with really long side eyes and annoyed sighs when he briefly cried). "Just look the person directly in the eye and say these f... More

Little man was not very impressed with my design skills when he lost his zutano booties... Seriously, there must be sooooo many lost socks in the world.

It's so fascinating to travel and see different customs including different baby foods. We are in Budapest and all the baby food come in glass jars, no pouches. I was a bit surprised when the flight attendant came with a jar of Hipp baby food for us (I've always associated Hipp with the powder formula that is popular in the states). Also, I've seen no baby carriers here but I do se... More

Little man is loving the iPal robot at SFO terminal B. Should be released within the next year. It sings songs and dances with its arms. Pretty neat.

There are some really great second hand kid's stores on this list. We try to buy second hand as possible to be environmentally friendly and for cost savings. We love Monkei Miles! They're having a pop up tomorrow! Do you have any favorite stores you shop at? http://lostinsf.com/en/best-kids-thrift-stores-in-san-francisco

Anyone ever wish they were a little kid again just so they could run around in really cool playgrounds? For the record, I would totally run around the playground if it could be guaranteed I would not damage playground equipment with my adult weight. 🤣 I had nostalgia today when we visited our old local library which now has an extensive playground in the back area. They even had a nice picnic ... More

Loved the many different puppets they had in the children's section. We always try to stop here when we go to the ferry building.

Cute and small museum with a little desk for coloring. Loved their children's books.

Any fellow vegans here? Just started becoming a vegan for animal welfare reasons. Found Tom Brady's Purple Carrot program to be pretty helpful in making sure I eat well-rounded meals. Plus they are delicious! If you have any tips, would love to hear them. Also, did anyone not feed their children cow's milk? My son is still breastfeeding.

Super cool butterfly exhibit! Tip: get in free by reserving a family pass through the "Discover and Go" program from the Sf Public Library. Otherwise SF residents get in at a reduced rate ($6). https://sfpl.discoverandgo.net/

Does anyone else feel like they bought too many toys for their little ones? We are swimming in toys and I can't get rid of them fast enough. We've been posting on the buy nothing sf group. I find that I tend to get suckered into purchasing a toy bc it seems to be good for their development... 🤣

First outing with the trike-super fun! Little guy didn't ask to be taken out like he does when in the stroller.

Why can't these things be shipped assembled? 😓Took me 2 hours to put it together 🤣

Future MITer like papa and uncle? #nopressure

We love exploring the public open spaces in this city. Little known fact, there are many many open spaces in the city ( usually with a nice area for eating). They will usually have a gold plaque in the front of the building telling you where the places are. We usually check out a few places. Here are some great spots: http://sf.curbed.com/maps/sf-best-popos-parks-san-francisco

You can have your child's feet measured at Nordstrom! We couldn't figure out why he didn't fit into some shoes we were gifted, found out his actual shoe size is somewhere closer to 5. Now I feel bad about squeezing him into 3.5s... 😳

Recap of safety tips: 1. Be aware of your surroundings, there are human trafficking rings that don't discriminate based on sex and often target young kids (this means not being on your phone and being distracted) 2. Take a photo of the people who are targeting you and your child(ren). This may scare them away. 3. Call security to walk you to your car. 4. Once there, put your kids in fi... More
