when I imagine the toy store of my dreams as a kid, it looks like mr. mopps. my kid has enjoyed coming here for the past 5 years or so and always wants to pop in to play the toy piano or ride the wobble-seated-scooter around the shop, and peruse the shelves. they have a children’s bookstore a few doors down and are getting ready to open a larger store that’s connected to the toy shop. this is o... we just started this year and are so, so happy we found it. it's a small school that is home based and is so nurturing, sweet, and attentive to what each child needs and also deeply responsive to parents. most days have an extra class (dance, yoga, capoeira) in addition to the rotating lessons and activities. the outdoor space is FANTASTIC with lots to do... s is consistently excited abou... wow... this park is immaculate, quiet in a lovely sort of way, and in such a beautiful part of piedmont. lots of friendly dogs, grassy areas, an inset path along the base of the trees leads to a dual sided park divided by a large concrete slide. there's even a climbing wall for busy toddlers and kids. the clean bathroom also has a stash of pottychairs? lots of space to stretch out. bring... wonderful beach front hotel with a small pool for little ones (a foot deep and warm!). our room had a separate bath and shower which made bathing the kid SO EASY. great staff here. beach is right across the street and there is also a pier with a sea touch tank, restaurants, lots of things to see!
WE LOVE THIS PLACE. you can order online and pick up curbside, you can go in and marvel at how quick the food comes out (and it's GOOD), and how accommodating a restaurant can actually be when you're attempting to eat out with your kids. they have a full bar, kids and vegetarian menu, indoor and outdoor seating, ample parking, menus double as coloring pages, kids can watch tortillas mad... we went on the caboose for a birthday party and had a ball. it's an old, full size train with very knowledgable staff. some of the train cars are open and the covered cars have doors on either end that are typically open when the train is moving so keep adventurous kids close... Train goes in a loop with regular departures. there's no traveling between cars so once you're in, that... More
wonderful secluded park with open space for running around. There's two structures-- one for older kids and another gated one that is good for the littler kids (with a infant and regular swing). if you have a little Houdini, though-- be advised, they will get that gate open quickly!
dreamland playground is FANTASTIC. built by the same folks as frog park in Oakland, this place is so fun. lots to do and see at the playground, trains roll by on the regs, and there's lots of ducks waddling around the greenbelt just outside the structure. bathrooms (albeit not the cleanest?) nearby. put Bancroft way and Bolivar into your GPS and turn left when you get there...
wonderful place to take kids (all ages). $10 entry gets you acess-- wonderful space, wonderful owners (both are moms), consistent and fun programs and projects. bathrooms, changing tables, dedicated space to crawlers and infants. truly a wonderful space in south berkeley. they bring in lunch daily but also have a snack bar with great stuff.
