Finding child care has never been easy. Even with Winnie, parents had to spend time filtering through options, trying to find the best possible match for their price range, location, age of child, work hours and so much more. Today, we're changing that.

We're launching AI-powered search on Winnie, so parents can describe what they need in plain language and get back programs that best match all the criteria they care about.

Try searches like:

An affordable Spanish immersion preschool near San Antonio

I'm looking for a good daycare for my special needs son in San Francisco. He is 2 years old and needs medication during the day

Mandarin-immersion daycares in Seattle either within a 10 min drive of the Bryant neighborhood or on the way from Bryant to Fremont

Built on the largest child care dataset in the U.S.

Winnie maintains a comprehensive dataset of over 350K child care and education programs across all 50 states. AI search gives families a more intuitive way into that data, translating a conversational request into precise, relevant results.

Under the hood, the system uses a hybrid search engine that combines structured program data (type, age range, location, tuition) with unstructured content like descriptions and parent reviews. Neural sparse and dense vector search interpret the meaning behind a query, while structured filters and geo-targeting keep results grounded in real-world availability.

The result: search that feels like a conversation but returns results you can trust.

Rolling out to parents in alpha

The AI search experience is currently in a public alpha at winnie.com/ai. You can hear more about our AI efforts at Winnie on Marketplace Tech.

The launch reflects Winnie’s broader effort to apply AI to better connect families to the real-world programs their children depend on. We’d love to hear what you think! You can write to us at ai-feedback@winnie.com.
