When it comes to the 500,000 daycare and preschool providers in the United States, they come in all different shapes and sizes. Small home daycares may just have capacity for 4-8 kids while licensed centers can take hundreds of children. The largest of businesses in the child care industry are chains of centers.

National chains serve around one million of the 12 million children under five in some form of child care. In contrast to typical community-based centers or smaller home-based providers, chain centers can expect annual profits of between 15% and 20% of revenue. Below are some of the largest national child care chains in the United States.

Learning Care Group

Learning Care Group is a leading provider of early education and childcare services in 39 states, the District of Columbia and internationally. With a network of over 1,070 schools, they serve children from infancy through school age. Their philosophy is to tailor their programs to meet the individual needs of each child.

They own over 1,500 centers in 40 states and more than 500 Champions Before- and After-School programs in elementary schools. They also have a KinderCare at Work program that provides employer sponsored childcare to employees of businesses like Google, Cisco, and Walgreens.
