Any tips on tummy time? My 3 mon son HATES it! I get down on the floor w him, use toys, and use a prop pillow but he just screams. My dr told me to just let him scream bc he has to do it but it's torture. Anyone have tips on how to make it less painful?

My daughter didn't like it at first and I felt the same way. I didn't like using the pillow for some reason. I would suggest trying it in super small increments of time, gradually increasing. If you could do 90 seconds, 10x a day, that's 15 minutes. Gradually increasing amount of time until you get to 30min daily, then consolidating sessions.

Roll up a towel and use that to prop him up a little. That might help. Someone in a Gymboree class said that for boys it might just be more uncomfortable so they refuse it more. With time I saw many boys enjoy tummy time

There was a recent discussion, maybe one of the Winnie admins can find a link to the great ideas that came up! (I can't figure out how to search Winnie discussions.)

Here's one: (From the new Search tab in the app you can type any keyword and hit "search" and it will search posts!)

Mine liked to do it on the couch, looking into the room with me sitting in front of him. You can also put him on your chest while you lean back or are on your back.

I just put mine on my chest and she has to squirm and lift her head to see me, so she already has a strong neck at a young age. Worth trying

My son hated tummy time too. A physical therapist suggested trying it on an exercise ball. My son loved it that way! Just have 2 people at first until everyone gets comfortable with it.

What about on the bed? Our daughter loved being on our bed with the boppy under her a lot more than on the floor or couch. The comforter or quilt would be much more cushy under him.

Personally my son hated it and would cry his heart out, no matter what we tried. I hated making him so upset so we just decided to let go and stopped forcing him to do it. He was never delayed in any way and now he's a fully functioning and thriving 3 year old 😊
