Kindergarten

Our kindergarten curriculum focuses on developing foundational skills that prepare students for later learning in the areas of math, science, social studies and language arts. Group discussions of books are lead by teachers as students begin to identify characters, settings, and major events in a story. Children begin to develop writing skills with guidance by using a combination of drawing, storytelling, and writing to convey an event or share an opinion. They'll begin to understand the relationship between numbers and quantities learning to count to 100 by ones and tens and write numbers from zero to twenty. They are also introduced to life science, physical science, earth science, and space science.

Kindergarten

In Stratford’s kindergarten program, students tackle math, grammar, phonics, and reading in the morning, while afternoon sessions feature music, writing, Spanish, and science several times each week. Kindergarten students learn to explore subjects more deeply – allowing for greater understanding, more critical thinking, and analysis. Kindergarteners begin formal recitation to develop public speaking skills, and teachers use poetry, music, and reading aloud to promote students’ self-assurance in front of a group. While academically challenging, Stratford kindergarten classes embody the pillars of Stratford School spirit – joyful warmth, sparkling intelligence, and passionate commitment.

Before & After Care

Stratford offers Extended Day programs to give parents the added convenience to meet their busy schedule. Dedicated and specially trained staff, experienced in working with students, oversees homework and facilitates creative and fun activities. Available as early as 7:00 a.m. before the school day begins and after the school day ends until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Extended Day provides students with structured time for finishing school work and ample time to socialize, read, play games, and enjoy team challenges or independent activities.

Summer at Action Day (TK-8th Grade)

Summer at Action Day is where fun takes center stage! Weekly themes bring water play, bounce houses, ice cream trucks, specialty camps, and unforgettable adventures. From creative arts to robotics and sports, every week is a brand-new experience that kids look forward to all year.

Before and After Care Program

Summer Camp

Summer is a wonderful time to explore new things and expand learning through a variety of activities. The days stretch out in front of each child, waiting to be filled with adventure, good friends, and just plain fun. Our summer camps provide each child with the opportunity to fill his or her summer days with diverse experiences and activities. Creative play, arts & crafts, academic review, sports, picnics, and bike days, will provide all students with a memorable summer.

Extended Day Program

Learn and have fun in our Extended Day Program which is an extension of our academic day. A separate curriculum has been developed to bring our students a blending of academics, personal growth, and self-understanding in a relaxed environment. Increased understanding of peer relationships is provided. A study hall time gives the student the opportunity to work with their extended day teachers and their academic teacher to assist in understanding their required homework.

Campers get the opportunity to practice what they learn during the school year, make connections, and engage in topics that they want to know more about. Students get to collaborate on exciting themes and activities that are designed to promote skill building while having fun. In a typical day, we promote an active and healthy lifestyle with healthy snacks, meals, and physical activity. We focus on discovery, play, and engagement and support Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics concepts while building lasting connections. Located on elementary school campuses, our programs foster positive relationships and support children’s academic and social development. With structured activities and ample opportunities for self-directed exploration, students receive homework assistance, participate in creative projects, and engage in hands-on learning beyond the classroom. Each center is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the children, families, and school communities it serves. Our daily schedule includes a community-building meeting, academic enrichment, nutritious meals served family-style, and 30 Fit, ensuring at least 30 minutes of physical activity for a healthy lifestyle. Children explore their interests through long-term clubs, enjoy open recreation, and participate in both indoor and outdoor play spaces tailored to different age groups. Our dedicated staff, trained in child development, CPR, and first aid, create a nurturing atmosphere where kids feel supported and empowered. Additionally, we offer specialized TK and Kindergarten enrichment programs to meet the unique needs of our youngest learners, ensuring a seamless transition between school and extended care.
