Preschool

Your preschooler is beginning to connect letters, sounds and numbers, expanding their world through reading and math. Children in the Pathfinders Classroom will be asked to complete more concrete tasks to ensure they’re prepared for the next step in their education. Our goal is to ensure your child has mastered all the necessary skills to enter Kindergarten by providing individual planning, challenging your child, and considering their progress. Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP)

The Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP) is designed for three- and four-year-olds to develop essential language, math, and social skills. Using curricula like More Story Stretchers and Count On Math, children engage in group activities that build confidence and foundational knowledge. The program includes STEM learning and social-emotional development to prepare children for future educational experiences. Classrooms are structured to encourage exploration and creativity, with regular parent-teacher communication to track progress.

Junior Kindergarten

The Junior Kindergarten program is for four- and five-year-olds who miss the September cutoff for public or private school Kindergarten and who have completed a preschool program. It prepares them for kindergarten by focusing on literacy, math, science, and social studies. Children engage with stories, letters, sounds, and words to enhance literacy, while math concepts are taught through hands-on activities. The program also develops handwriting skills with creative materials and includes technology instruction. Social skills are fostered through interactive play and activities.

Preschoolers

Our preschool program in Sterling introduces children to math, science, reading, technology, art, and both shared and independent play while building confidence and school readiness skills.

The major focus of each classroom is based on our project-based learning Creative Curriculum. The programs also include discovery learning, imaginative play, role-play, music, and movement, and progressively with age the programs include fitness, library, and art.

Montessori

The Montessori learning laboratory is in an orderly, focused, and calm environment for your child to learn and grow. Through the use of the Montessori manipulatives, your child will develop an understanding of the “why” behind the concepts being taught. Learning takes place in a mixed age group setting, individually and in small groups.

Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP)

Our Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program, or PREP, will transition your three year old from a traditional early preschool experience to school readiness. Your child will be guided with inquiry-based learning techniques, so that he or she not only understands the questions, but also learns how to find the answers. Our PREP students learn to use technology as a resource tool as they participate in problem solving activities reinforcing their understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Your child will be exposed to Spanish as the language is incorporated throughout the day in songs and games to train the ear and the brain for additional language learning. Our social and emotional learning time will prepare your child to negotiate the larger group and class sizes later experienced in the kindergarten classroom.

Half-day Three Year Olds

Our Three‑Year‑Old Program blends Montessori independence with Reggio Emilia creativity. Through hands‑on exploration, small‑group learning, and individualized activities, children build confidence, curiosity, and strong early academic foundations.

Half-day 4 & 5 Year-Olds

At Ivybrook Academy, we understand the exciting growth and readiness of four and five-year-olds as they prepare for the next steps in their educational journey. Our half-day Pre-kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten programs are thoughtfully designed to challenge, inspire, and prepare young learners through a balanced approach of academic exploration and creative play.
