Toddlers

Toddlers are quickly learning so much about the world around them, developing faster than almost any other age group. They are all about speed — learning to sing, talk and run all at once. Lightbridge Academy’s Toddler Program is designed to make the most of every one of their fast-paced milestones. Our curriculum specifically addresses toddlers’ rapid growth and development by catering to their readiness cues, with the older toddler curriculum focused on preparing for preschool and beyond. When they display interest or signs of emerging skills, we can encourage them to move to the next challenge.

Preschool

Preschool provides the freedom and opportunity for children to develop and grow in independence and confidence. An engaged child learns! While having fun, they aren’t even aware they are developing reading and math skills. In addition, your child will gain the social skills necessary to succeed in Pre-K and beyond. Through small and large group instruction and activities, teachers focus on every child as an individual — enabling them to gain knowledge and thrive. Our proprietary Seedlings Early Childhood Education Curriculum utilizes theme-based lessons to strengthen your child’s emerging skills in reading, writing, science, technology and math. Additionally, we help prepare your child for the structured learning environment of a kindergarten classroom through teacher-guided instruction and child-led exploration focused on effective communication, the ability to follow instruction and how to work cooperatively with peers.

This is the time when children use their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills to learn about and make sense of their world in the ways most meaningful and effective for them. Our toddler educators give your toddler responsive, individualized attention to help build their skills. Activities range from the simple to the complex, with work areas arranged by subject. Montessori materials not typically found at other schools are used, as children choose activities based on their own interests. Primary

Learning revolves around tangible experiences. Practical life exercises like sorting, pouring, or washing dishes are introduced. Children also use concrete materials such as movable alphabets, cubes, cylinders, and other objects to learn. They learn to work together, with each others’ best interests in mind. This broad-based program allows children to explore a range of subjects and ideas: science and nature, music and movement, sensorial experiences, cooking and nutrition, cultural awareness, history; geography, language arts, and mathematics.

Older Toddlers

Our Cardinal program supports older toddlers and their increased independence, exploration of emotions and feelings, and fast-developing use of language. We also understand and support their continued desire to explore everything about their world. We believe our play-based philosophy and learning center structure gives them the best opportunity to do this. Activities such as ice painting or sorting objects by color will stimulate your child’s inquisitive mind. While in a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment, our program is designed to encourage individual creative expression through your child’s own strengths and interests and foster a passion for learning! Most young children begin to talk around 12 months old, while some infants even try to communicate with their parents and caregivers even earlier! One way of helping our young children express their feelings, wants, and needs without crying and frustration of a lack of understanding from adults is through simple sign language, commonly known as ‘Baby Core Signs.’ These core signs include words like milk, sleep, play, all done, more, mother, father, etc.
