Preschool

Preschool is where socialization and curiosity are fostered to build self confidence and a love for learning. Children are given choices as they work in learning centers, remembering that a child's work is play and that "play is the foundation for learning." Special guests are invited to support our themes throughout the year. We welcome community helpers like our firefighters, canine police unit, search and rescue helicopter unit, veterinarian, and nutritionists, to name a few.

VPK (Voluntary Pre-K)

VCA participates in the Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) program, a free program that is funded by the State of Florida for children four years old by September 1st. Our VPK curriculum prepares children for Kindergarten and life-long learning by fostering the social-emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children with concrete skills gained through experiences with music, art, storytelling, hands-on activities, and teacher-directed lessons. We focus on mastering fine and gross motor skills, understanding key concepts like “more and less,” “beside and between,” reading, writing, letters, numbers, sign language, Spanish as a foreign language, and more! A high percentage of our VPK graduates boast an elementary school reading level by Kindergarten.

Our Threes thrive in a playful, structured space with dramatic play, hands-on centers, and Circle Time that sparks language, problem-solving, and creativity. Activities build social skills, independence, and school readiness—all through fun and exploration.

The Fours

This pre-VPK class blends creativity with academics, building fine motor skills, early writing, math, and Spanish. Kids gain confidence through music, memory songs, and hands-on learning—perfect prep for a strong start in VPK.

Bridge Classroom

Children in the Bridge classroom are strengthening their self-care skills, growing in their independence and enhancing the skills they need to be successful in a preschool classroom. The Bridge classroom is a purposeful year of preschool prep designed for children with birthdays later in the year or children who may need more time to strengthen self-care skills or social-emotional development. In this classroom, our Wonder of Learning™ education program supports children's independence as they continue to build skills necessary for handwriting and drawing with increased intentionality, learn foundational math concepts and build strong vocabularies.
