Prekindergarten Program

Final year of preschool designed to prepare children for kindergarten. Program puts a strong emphasis on literacy and language arts. Daily routine includes: reading, writing, math, science, Spanish instruction, movement, art, and music. We are a contracted provider with CO Universal Preschool (UPK).

UPK (Universal Preschool)

We prepare your child for kindergarten! Our school is proud to partner with the state as a provider of the Colorado UPK program. This comprehensive, full-day program prepares 4-year-olds for that big step into elementary school. Plus, parents get peace of mind with extended child care, strict licensing standards, healthy meals and snacks, and access to live streaming video. We’re also open during all school breaks and for summer camp! Note: Child must be age 4 by Sept. 1.

Preschool

Preschool-age children in the Explorers Classroom understand the idea of rules and they’re learning to play with their peers. Our Explorers Classroom curriculum help children delve into different topics through age-appropriate and engaging activities and helps build the foundation for Kindergarten readiness. Preschoolers in the Explorers Classroom will experience hands-on learning daily through a wide range of activities and develop fine motor skills that will help with writing and practice gross motor skills outdoors to gain better control over larger muscles.

Pre-K

Children in the Pathfinders Classroom will be asked to complete more concrete tasks to ensure they’re prepared for the next step in their education. Our goal is to ensure your child has mastered all the necessary skills to enter Kindergarten by providing individual planning, challenging your child, and considering their progress. Colorado Universal Preschool

Colorado Universal Preschool Program prepares your child for kindergarten – at no cost to you! Want to ensure your child is ready for Kindergarten? Enroll in Colorado Universal Preschool, a state-funded program providing up to 15 hours of FREE preschool each week. The preschool years are an exciting time of creativity, curiosity, and social growth. At The Sunshine House, we create a stimulating, hands-on learning environment that nurtures your child’s independence, confidence, and love of learning—all while making education fun! Before- and after-school care is available for families needing additional support. Contact us to check availability and get started!

Head Start

Preschool classrooms held at all four of our locations: Meeker Center, Longspeak Center, FUMC, and Powell. All in Longmont. Families are income-qualified and eligible by meeting the Head Start requirements. At no cost to families.

Bridge Classroom

Children in the Bridge classroom are strengthening their self-care skills, growing in their independence and enhancing the skills they need to be successful in a preschool classroom. The Bridge classroom is a purposeful year of preschool prep designed for children with birthdays later in the year or children who may need more time to strengthen self-care skills or social-emotional development. In this classroom, our Wonder of Learning™ education program supports children's independence as they continue to build skills necessary for handwriting and drawing with increased intentionality, learn foundational math concepts and build strong vocabularies.

In our Preschool classroom, children start their journeys into a cooperative learning environment where they can discover interests and learn in a more structured setting.
