Childcare Teacher & Childcare Assistant (Hiring 2)

Good Apple Childcare is looking for two caring, energetic, and dependable people to join our in-home childcare and preschool team! We are hiring for both a Lead Teacher and a Childcare Assistant.

Schedule
Contract position
Monday–Friday
Minimum of 16 hours per week
Up to 32 hours per week available
Flexible scheduling depending on the position and your availability
Pay

Pay is based on experience, responsibilities, and scheduled shift.

About Us

At Good Apple Childcare, we care for children from newborn through 5 years old. We believe children learn best through play, exploration, kindness, and real-life experiences. Our goal is to help children become confident, independent, respectful, and emotionally healthy while providing loving support to their families.

We don't just stay inside—we explore! Our preschool program includes frequent field trips and hands-on learning experiences.

Some of our adventures include:

Hiking
Parks and playgrounds
Library visits
Oregon Zoo
OMSI
Portland Children's Museum and other local outings

Teachers may choose to participate in field trips or stay back with the babies, depending on the day's needs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities are shared by everyone on the team, with the Lead Teacher taking the primary role in planning and teaching.

Duties include:

Supervising and engaging with children from newborn to 5 years old
Leading preschool activities and learning through play
Reading stories and helping children develop early literacy skills
Teaching independence and self-help skills
Supporting children's social and emotional development
Helping children learn to regulate big emotions
Diaper changing and potty training
Serving meals and snacks
Singing songs, doing crafts, sensory activities, and outdoor play
Teaching clean-up routines and respectful behavior
Interacting with parents and building positive relationships with families
Creating a safe, loving, and fun environment every day
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

Loves working with young children
Is patient, kind, and nurturing while maintaining appropriate boundaries
Enjoys being active and participating in play
Has experience with children (preferred but not required)
Is eager to learn and bring new ideas
Wants to be part of a close-knit team
Is looking for a long-term position where meaningful relationships can grow

Requirements
Must pass a background check
Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification (we will help you get certified)
Must obtain a Food Handler Card (we will help)
Complete required online safety trainings (we will help with all required training)
