Group Teacher / Education Director Designee

Tiny Step Learners Daycare & Preschool – Queens Village, NY

Tiny Step Learners Daycare & Preschool is seeking a qualified, dependable, nurturing, and experienced Group Teacher / Education Director Designee to join our growing preschool program serving children ages 2–5.

The ideal candidate will provide strong classroom leadership while also being qualified to serve as the Education Director Designee when our Education Director is unavailable.

Qualifications – NYC Health Code Article 47

Candidates must meet the applicable requirements under NYC Health Code Article 47, Section 47.13 to qualify as a Preschool Group Teacher and Education Director Designee.

Applicants should qualify through one of the applicable Article 47 pathways, including:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field AND valid New York State Education Department certification, OR

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field AND at least two years of experience in a preschool program, OR

Another NYC Department of Health-approved Group Teacher qualification/study-plan pathway permitted under Article 47.

Candidates must also be able to complete and maintain all required NYC DOHMH clearances and documentation, including:

Criminal background/fingerprint clearance

Statewide Central Register (SCR) clearance

Required medical/physical documentation

Required staff health and immunization documentation

Required childcare health and safety trainings

CPR and First Aid certification

References and employment verification as required

Any additional documentation required by NYC DOHMH

Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Group Teacher / Education Director Designee will:

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom lessons and activities.

Provide a safe, nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment.

Supervise children and maintain proper staff-to-child ratios at all times.

Observe and document children's developmental progress.

Complete assessments and maintain required classroom records.

Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's progress and daily experiences.

Supervise and provide guidance to Assistant Teachers and other classroom staff.

Assist with meals, toileting/potty training, nap time, transitions, outdoor activities, and other daily routines.

Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom.

Follow all Tiny Step Learners policies and NYC DOHMH Article 47 requirements.

Assist with staff training and maintaining required documentation.

Serve as the Education Director Designee when the Education Director is unavailable.

Help oversee daily program operations, staff supervision, classroom coverage, health and safety procedures, and regulatory compliance when serving as designee.

Maintain professional and positive communication with families, staff, and administration.
