Job Description
Position Title: Lead Teacher – Early Childhood / Preschool / Childcare
Reports To: Director or Childcare Manager
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Lead Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This role includes planning curriculum, guiding classroom activities, supervising assistant staff, and building strong relationships with children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom
Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and classroom aides
Foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development in children
Ensure compliance with state childcare licensing regulations
Conduct regular child observations and assessments
Build positive relationships with families and provide regular updates on child progress
Maintain accurate records (attendance, incidents, developmental milestones, etc.)
Collaborate with staff and participate in staff meetings and training
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred)
CDA credential or equivalent ( preferred)
Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting
Experience planning and leading classroom activities
CPR and First Aid certification (required or must obtain within 30 days of hire)
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of child development and early learning standards
Classroom management and leadership skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, organized, and committed to maintaining high standards of care
Team-oriented and collaborative
Able to lift 30–50 lbs and engage physically with young children throughout the day
Additional Requirements:
Must pass a background check and health screening
Up-to-date on required vaccinations (e.g., TB test)
Must be authorized to work in [your country/state]
Work Schedule:
Full-time / Part-time
M-F/Weekends
