JumpStart Child Development Center is seeking dependable, caring, and motivated Teacher Assistants to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for working with young children, the ability to follow classroom routines and teacher direction, and the commitment to help maintain a safe, structured, nurturing, and engaging toddler classroom environment.
Responsibilities include:

Assist the Lead Teacher in supporting the daily classroom routine for toddlers.
Help implement age-appropriate learning activities, play-based lessons, and classroom engagement as directed.
Supervise children closely throughout the day to ensure safety, participation, and positive behavior.
Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Assist with meals, transitions, diapering/toileting, rest time, outdoor play, and other daily care needs.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Communicate professionally with parents, families, teachers, and center leadership.
Follow center policies, licensing standards, classroom procedures, and daily schedules.
Assist with attendance, classroom records, and daily communication as needed.
Work as part of a team to create a respectful, supportive, and child-focused classroom culture.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.
Experience working with young children in a preschool, daycare, toddler, or early childhood setting preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong desire to work in childcare will be considered.
Must be dependable, patient, professional, and comfortable working with toddlers.
Must have the ability to follow classroom routines, take direction from lead teaching staff, and maintain center procedures.
Child Abuse & Neglect Recognition Training required prior to or upon hire per Virginia licensing standards.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred; must be willing to obtain upon hire.
CDA credential or active enrollment in a CDA or early childhood education program is a plus.
Must be willing to complete a minimum of 16 hours of annual childcare training as required by Virginia licensing standards.
Must be willing to complete all required background check requirements prior to hire.

Position Details:

Openings: 3 Positions Available
Schedule: Full-Time and Part-Time positions available
Pay: $12.00–$14.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
