Happy Nook is a boutique, play-based early childhood program inspired by the Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches. We are rooted in warmth, safety, beauty, and intentional design, with deep respect for each child as a unique individual.
We have grown into a larger licensed center serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and are seeking a nurturing, experienced Assistant Infant Teacher to help bring our philosophy to life in the classroom.

Job Overview
The Assistant Infant Teacher is responsible for the daily care, supervision, and development of infants ages 6 weeks–18 months in their assigned classroom.
This role includes implementing responsive caregiving routines, supporting early developmental milestones, maintaining licensing compliance, and building strong relationships with families.
The Assistant Infant Teacher works closely with the Lead Infant Teacher and Center Director to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Responsibilies
Classroom & Child Development
Ensure the health, safety, and active supervision of infants at all times (Title 22 compliance)
Maintain appropriate teacher-child ratios and classroom organization
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based experiences for infants
Incorporate Montessori and Reggio-inspired materials and sensory exploration
Support early social-emotional development through responsive caregiving
Follow individualized infant routines including feeding, diapering, sleeping, and play
Observe and document children’s development and milestones
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate attendance records, daily infant logs, and incident reports
Follow all California Community Care Licensing regulations
Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training
Family & Team Collaboration
Build warm, professional relationships with families
Communicate regularly regarding children’s routines, development, and progress
Collaborate with Assistant Teachers and participate in staff meetings
Qualifications
Minimum 12 ECE units (including Child Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, and Curriculum)
Minimum 50 days experience in a licensed early childhood center
Knowledge of infant development and responsive caregiving practices
Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia experience preferred
Current Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Strong classroom leadership and communication skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squat, and move throughout the day
Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations
