Teacher Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of EEC Teacher Qualification Credential.
Associates Degree preferred, but not required.
Able to provide a safe, stimulating and educational environment for Infants, Toddlers and Preschool Children.
Performance Responsibilities in Classroom:
1. Maintain safe and sanitary classroom area and equipment
2. Arrange classroom for optimum efficiency/usage
3. Be aware of possible hazards.
4. Keep work and play area neat and organized.
5. Keep closets and shelves in order (Lock up hazardous materials)
6. Educating children about fundamental concepts, such as colors, letters, numbers, and shapes.
7. Encouraging social interactions between children and improving their self-esteem.
8. Engaging in creative methods of learning, such as arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling.
9. Keep track of postings and ensure they are up to date.
10. Cooperate with co-workers and understand the importance of “Team Work” and “Team Building Skills”.
Program:
1. Follow the daily schedule of activities.
2. Keep and attendance record daily.
Tasks:
1. Use positive approaches and maintain the ability to serve as a positive role model.
2. Comfort children.
3. Stop unsafe activities and redirect children toward safe play.
4. Talk and listen to children, even if they are too little to talk back.
5. Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor play.
6. Do not tell children they have to share, but model sharing and praise sharing when you see it.
7. Provide care such as diapering, feeding, dressing, etc. in a relaxed, individual manner.
8. Curriculum Plans should allow for individual differences and parental input.
9. Communicating with parents on children’s progress.
10. Writing up reports, inputting data.
11. Perform custodial duties, such as cleaning and sanitizing classroom toys and equipment.
12. Instilling a sense of order in the classroom, Classroom management.
Other Job Requirements:
1. Be familiar with and follow IOP Policies
2. Demonstrate Good Work Ethics.
3. Attend Scheduled meetings.
4. Attend at least 20 hours of training per year.
5. Check children for illness.
6. Supervise and help children’s hand washing.
7. Maintain am accurate student count at all times. (Staff/Child Ratios)
8. Inform Director of Childcare or Executive Director of any potential problems in or around the site. (“If you see something say something”).
9. Be aware and adhere to all licensing requirements.
10. Ensure that each child leaves with parent or authorized parent or authorized person.
11. Must give adequate notice if you cannot be at work at your scheduled time.
12. Be Flexible with daily scheduling changes.
13. Must maintain Confidentiality.
14. Understand the importance of cultural diversity.
15. Other duties as assigned.
