As parents, we really only have one treasure in life, and that is our children. My daughter Ava has been the biggest blessing in my life. Nikki Balauskas began looking after Ava when she was a college student at University of Illinois in Chicago and Ava was in first grade. Now twelve years later, Ava and Nikki remain the most steadfast of friends. Not only did Nikki look after Ava with safety, adventure and fun in mind, she also taught her tremendous work ethic and study skills, through her own example.
