Parent Reviews
I cannot recommend BCJ enough! My son has been attending BCJ since he was 5 months old and he is still attending at 3.5 years old. Domitila and the other teachers have helped him grow into a kind, smart and caring little boy. I credit so much of his development (learning Spanish! Knowing all of his letters and numbers, his language skills) to BCJ. They truly lead with love and have your child's best interest in mind at all times. BCJ changed any previous ideas I had in my head about a "home daycare". The space is large and there is a huge backyard filled with a swing set, toys, bikes, balls, small pools and water tables - truly everything a child could ask for. The day is structured so the children know what to expect and begin to look forward to their activities such as circle time, journaling, art time and even helping bake! Domitila cooks homemade meals for breakfast and lunch every day, which for 2 full-time working parents is amazing! As a parent - it is so challenging to choose the right environment for your child when you have to be away from them. When I drop my son off each day, he is ecstatic to hug Tila and his teachers and see his friends. I would choose BCJ 100x over!
I wholeheartedly recommend BCJ Family Child Care. For over four years, Domitila provided top-notch care to my children. Domitila quickly formed strong relationships with each of my kids, in just a short time. I appreciated the structured meal planning and activity schedule that Domitila and her assistants offered. She also provided me directly with copies monthly when I asked. I always felt my daughters were well nourished with often homemade meals, and cared for physically – if they were out sick for a couple of days, Domitila would email to check in on how they were feeling. My daughters were also given lots of opportunity to have their interests piqued and learn lots of new things, all while having fun. I remember asking my younger daughter, “What was your favorite thing at school today?” she often responded “Projects!” because she was so pleased with the arts and crafts she made at BCJ. I feel extremely lucky to have found BCJ and received the care and support Tila gave to my children, but also to me as a parent. I still value Tila's thoughts to this day and feel lucky to know her. Without hesitation, I recommend BCJ as the best choice around for those who want a smaller-sized day care.
Thank you for your kind words and support, it means a lot to us.
Our son, Milo, attended BCJ from 9 months until almost 4 years old, and I would highly recommend BCJ to any parent looking for high-quality, loving care for their children. Finding childcare that you trust and like can be so difficult - here are some of the things that made us choose and stick to BCJ for three years: 1) The owner, Domitila Almanzar (or Tila), and her assistants are very loving and caring in addition to being extremely knowledgeable on early childhood education. Under their care, Milo has grown into a very empathetic boy in tune with his emotions. They always listened to what Milo had to say and treated him with respect, and we especially liked that they would give Milo a big hug on days when he really needed it. It honestly felt like dropping him off with family. 2) Tila will take the time to really get to know your child. This was perhaps best seen at the yearly evaluation reports - several pages of notes and questionaires that she prepares and fills out for each child as a basis for a meeting with the parents to discuss the development of the child. Reading the report always made me tear up because I see that Tila knows Milo well and wants him to succeed in every aspect of life. 3) The house always smells amazing at drop off in the morning from the food that Tila cooks for the kids every day. No sugary foods here! All healthy meals, like beans and rice, with nutritious morning and afternoon snacks. Only occasionally, on birthdays, the kids will have something sweeter. 4) The backyard is big, with a playground area, and the kids spend time outdoors almost every day, weather permitting. Some things to keep in mind: BCJ is a smaller in-home daycare which means that it will be closed for 2-3 weeks each year to give the staff some vacation. Tila does notify parents in advance so we never found this to be a big issue. Another thing to note is that at BCJ, privacy is highly valued, so you will not get a lot of photos/videos of the kids. Instead of using an app to track daily activities, each child comes home with a paper note each day. Again, this was not an issue for us - we knew that we could always ask to come inside and stay for a while if we were curious how Milo was doing or if he needed us there for a bit. We're sad that Milo is leaving BCJ and we are only taking him out because a childcare facility moved to our street and we can have him and his baby sister at walking distance. Milo is part of a small group of boys that are all "graduating" from BCJ to different preschools this Fall. But we will always remember BCJ fondly and come back to visit!
We appreciate your wonderful feedback, thank you!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As a parent, I couldn’t be more grateful for BCJ Family Childcare. From the very beginning, we felt welcomed and supported. The caregivers are truly loving, attentive, and dedicated to helping the children grow emotionally, socially, and academically. My child absolutely loves going every day — it’s a safe, joyful, and nurturing environment filled with creativity and kindness. The activities are always thoughtful, and they genuinely care about each child’s development. The birthday celebrations, like the recent one for Kai, show just how much heart goes into everything they do. I highly recommend BCJ Family Childcare to any parent looking for a place where their child will be cared for like family. 💛
Thank you!
Our child attended BCJ as an infant, between 4-12 months old, when we switched to another center purely based on location (walkability from our home). The owner, Tila, and her staff really impressed us with their dedication and clear affection for the children. Because it is a small program, the kids were all treated as individuals and able to develop strong relationships with each caregiver. Kids of all ages are together throughout the day, which gives the center the feeling of a big family with lots of cousins—in all the best ways. Tila is extremely knowledgeable and experienced with child development and clearly brings that expertise to her work. She actively advised us on our child's developmental milestones (e.g., transition to solid foods) and helped us establish consistent routines to smooth the transitions between home and daycare. Her insights reflected her close attention to our kid's changing needs and child-centric approach. Some other things we liked about the program: - Homemade meals (!) and quality snacks were included. - Tuition was more affordable than other local centers, with no compromise in quality. - The outdoor play area is lovely, as good as any local playground! - Indoors is a small space, but well-equipped for a range of activities. A few things that may not be to everybody's preference: - During our time (2024), operations were fairly analog. Meaning no app and no photos/updates throughout the day (instead, a written summary at pick-up), and communication was mainly in person/over text. We appreciated that the staff were spending their time caring for the kids rather than on an iPad, but if you are looking for a more technology-mediated experience, take note. - Expect to be clear and consistent with pick-up and drop-off plans. Because of the small staff, they rely on parents to uphold a regular schedule and communicate any changes ahead of time. - Vacation closures were confirmed with just a couple weeks' notice, so some flexibility/access to back-up care is recommended.
Thank you, we appreciate your feedback!
Domitila and her team have exceeded all of my expectations. As a new mother, I want to make sure my son is in a place where he gets care and attention from someone I can trust. I am truly blessed to have found Tila- she loves my baby, and it is clear that he loves her back. The joy he gets when he is around her and the other children lets me know we made the right choice by going to BCJ Family Childcare. I can't recommend BCJ enough. The setup is conducive to learning and play, and her many years in childcare/early education is apparent when we hear about all of the stories, music, and manipulatives our son enjoys during the day. The back yard is a wonderful space for children to play and learn as well, with a garden, toys, and educational posters abound. Tila is attentive and thorough, always advocating for the child and ensuring she and the parents are aligned on goals. She makes you feel supported and part of a team to help your child grow and develop. The schedule (particularly naptime) that she implements has been a godsend, and it has given my husband and me the structure we needed now that we are back at work. I can't say enough good things about BCJ Family Childcare! It is conveniently located and feels like home. We are so grateful!
Thank you for your kind words , I truly appreciate your support and am grateful for the opportunity to work with your family.
My daughter was at BCJ Family Childcare from 6 months - 4.5 years old. We all loved the care, love, and attention that she got from loving and skilled teachers. Mia still talks about her time there fondly and we still try to visit when we can! It was a great foundation for her to launch into elementary school and we can't say enough positive things about the wonderful staff at BCJ.
We’re so grateful for your kind words and support—it means the world to us.
My son has been at BCJ since he was 4 mo old. The staff are very organized and loving. My son has needed extra services over the years and they were extremely accommodating . They have a wonderful backyard and are constantly doing creative activities with the kids. I highly recommend BCJ.
Thank you so much! We’re so happy to be part of your child’s journey.
