We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Big Sis Daycare. Savannah, the owner, is an absolute gem—so patient, kind, and creative. Every day, she introduces new games and activities that keep the children engaged and happy. One of the things we love most is the truly bilingual environment. With Savannah speaking English, teachers who use both Mandarin and English, and families from diverse backgrounds (English, Japanese, Chinese, and more), it’s a rich and authentic bilingual community. My daughter’s language skills have grown tremendously since she started here. Equally wonderful is the multicultural atmosphere. The children learn not only different languages but also how to share, celebrate, and connect across cultures. It’s amazing to see them grow in such an inclusive environment. The special holiday events Savannah organizes are always a big hit, and my daughter is full of joy every time I pick her up. Big Sis Daycare is a wonderful, nurturing place where children truly thrive. BTW, they event provide after school pickup from college park preschool, which is awesome for us!
Our son has been with Big Sis Daycare since he was 15 months. He is almost 2.5! He is so happy and learning so much! Savannah is wonderful with kids. We were drawn and impressed by the way she interacts and communicates with kids. We really like her teaching style. I love that they accommodate our needs, have daily communication about our son’s growth, share pictures and monthly newsletters. She's very responsive to our questions and routinely update us on how our son is doing. It's important to us to know how our son is doing throughout his time in daycare, any issues he's having and any growth Savannah sees. He knows the ABC, can count to 20, colors, animals, vehicles, social skills, languages skills, etc. Savannah routinely plans out activities throughout the years: like water activities in the summer, holiday activities like halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas. She spends quite a lot of effort planning activities out for the kids. We are so thrilled when Savannah told us that she has the opportunity to take over unit A, the preschool program. I was dreading to looking for preschool because Savannah and Jennifer are great and passionate at what they do.
Our son has been with Big Sis since he was only 4 months and is now almost 2! I can't say enough good things about Big Sis, Savannah and Jennifer has always been so accommodating, considerate, and open to how we wanted to raise our son. As a first time parent, I've done lots of research on how I wanted to raise my baby with early exposure to signing for needs, baby-led weaning, and part-time elimination communication. I am very aware, that these not all of these things are well known or "normal" on how to raise a kid. But after enough practice at home, with showing signs of consistency, I would let Big Sis know and they were always supportive on trying to continue to these things the best they can at daycare. I love that my son will come home with crafts that he would help make, just showing how they are passionate on helping him develop his fine motor skills, attention span, and focus. We also love that this is a multi-lingual facility. My husband nor I speak Mandarin, but we love that he picks up/understand the language in addition to developing that prefrontal cortex of the brain that helps with executive function. I love that there are no TV/screens at the facility and that after every activity, the kids help clean up before they move on to the next. They sit around and do circle time together, dance parties, they have a secluded play area in front, where the kids can safely move around, play on slides, bubbles, and paint a "mural". The staff is so friendly and caring. They show all of their students individual attention, in addition to providing a safe space for all of the children to socialize and play together. I love that during pick up, some of the kids will help grab my son shoes to give to me before we leave, and hearing stories of my son helping pass around everyone's unique water bottle because he knows who's are who's. My son absolutely loves being there, sometimes he'll run in without saying goodbye, and sometimes during pick up, he'll see me and go in a corner because he doesn't want to leave. I can't recommend this place enough.
I can't say enough good things about Big Sis daycare! My daughter has been attending for about a year now, and it's been an absolutely stellar experience from the beginning. From the moment we toured, I knew this was the right place for her because of how incredibly caring the teachers are, and it's clear they genuinely love what they do. Every time I drop my daughter off, I feel at ease knowing she's in such good hands. She's always excited to go meet her teachers in the morning. One of the things I appreciate most is how they really take the time to get to know each child individually. They're always so accommodating about my daughter's feeding preferences and willing to work with us to make sure my daughter's needs are met. It's not just about childcare; it's about creating a nurturing environment where kids can thrive. The other kids also look very happy, not just my daughter. I was actually recommended to this daycare by a fellow mom in the mom group, and I'm so grateful she did! It's been a fantastic experience, and I'm happy to have found a place that makes me feel confident and comfortable leaving my little one every day. Highly recommend.
