Description
Our transition classroom is specifically designed for children leaving the infant/toddler stage and transitioning into full-on preschoolers. Unquestionably, children in this class are full of energy and eager to learn about new things. Hence, the classroom provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports children’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Toddlers have opportunities for play, exploration, and learning through hands-on experiences that are developmentally appropriate. Concurrently, teachers should support children’s emerging language and communication skills, encourage self-regulation and empathy, and foster a love for learning. Finally, the classroom is designed to meet the needs of toddlers, with child-sized furniture and materials that are accessible and engaging.

Description
Preschool is a crucial time for 3 and 4-year-olds to learn and develop important social-emotional, cognitive, language, and motor skills. Therefore, in our San Antonio preschool classroom, children learn to share, problem-solve, manage emotions, and form positive relationships. Language and literacy skills are developed by recognizing letters, sight words, and engaging in early reading and writing activities. Our pre-k program helps children build cognitive skills through hands-on learning activities that include cause-and-effect relationships, problem-solving, and memory. Without a doubt, we may get a bit messy! Preschool children develop their gross and fine motor skills through activities like drawing and climbing. Last but not least, our pre-k teachers help children explore their own creative expression through art, music, and dramatic play. These experiences and activities set a foundation for future learning and success.

Description
Transitioning from preschool and pre-k to kindergarten is a tremendous milestone for both children and parents. The goal of our Kindergarten Ready program is to prepare your child to enter kindergarten with the academic, social, and developmental skills necessary for success and to give parents peace of mind during this time of major change. The kindergarten readiness program prepares 5-year-olds for school readiness by focusing on language and literacy skills, mathematical concepts, social-emotional skills, cognitive skills, science and social studies, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills. Simultaneously, we introduce the concepts of scheduling and routine-based activities, both of which can make the transition to kindergarten easier.

Parent Reviews
My daughter Eva, age 3 with Down Syndrome, has been going to Brighton Center - Higgins Campus for 2.5 years, and we LOVE it! She has transitioned through several classrooms as she has grown over the years, but every teacher there is warm, welcoming, and truly accepts her for who she is. She has made strides in her social and emotional development and know that Brighton Center's all-inclusive environment has been a big contributor of that. We can't thank Brighton Center enough for helping my daughter thrive in all areas of her life!
