The program is play-based and child-centered; children's own interests are built upon by the caregiver to create opportunities for play. Curriculum is presented mostly through the materials that are provided, and children learn by using them. It's a mixed age group, from one to four years; and since there is a range of abilities, there is less competition and more cooperation than in a group of same-age peers. It's just the norm for children to have different skill levels; and if you don't know how to do something, one of your friends will help you. The children become very attached.
