Parent Reviews
We had our son enrolled at Family Fun Childcare part-time for over a year. While we were generally satisfied with the day-to-day care he received, we were disappointed by the business practices of the owners. Jeri and Mike often describe their program as “caring like family,” but our experience felt more transactional than relational. Earlier this year, they asked families to notify them of plans for the fall. As a courtesy, we let them know that our son had been accepted into a preschool program beginning in August (over six months away at the time). Shortly afterward, we received an email giving us 30 days notice because it “wasn’t a good business decision” to keep our part-time spot when they could enroll a full-time child. This decision was communicated only by email, with no attempt to discuss it with us in person or by phone. We were also asked to pay tuition for the full 30-day notice period after being told our child’s spot was ending. On our son’s final day, there was no acknowledgment or goodbye—his name had simply been removed from his cubby and our access to the childcare app was immediately deleted. We appreciate the care our son received during his time there, which is why the way things ended was particularly disappointing. Families should also be aware that the program closes fairly frequently, including last-minute closures due to illness or personal circumstances. While this may be manageable for some families, it can make consistent childcare coverage challenging. On multiple occasions we were asked to pay tuition early due to personal expenses or shopping trips. Overall, this experience was disappointing, especially given the program’s emphasis on treating families “like family.” Families considering this childcare option should be aware that enrollment decisions appear to be driven primarily by business considerations and may change if a more lucrative opportunity arises. We have enrolled our son in a traditional childcare center moving forward and are looking forward to that transition.
We love Family Fun Childcare! Our son has been attending for two years and we are so fortunate that they had a daycare along with an accredited preschool. Our son was able to participate in preschool activities at an early age, which helped him build a strong foundation for success. Jeri and Mike are so caring and we could not be more happy, with the love and care they provide our son.
