Our daughter has started in Montessori at four months old, but we recently left the school she has so far grown up in as we started the next adventure of elementary. We tried a charter school after touring many and marking all but one off the list and we realized quickly that as kind as the staff and kids were, the model wasn't right for our kid. Frankly, I'm not sure any 1st grader should have to change classrooms 8 times a day and have an hour or more of homework every night, but I digress. We found Forbes as one of our trusted teachers from her old school had recently moved there, and it was simply meant to be. There is not a single staff member my daughter doesn't light up to see each day and she's already made close friends. Her support needs are understood and accommodated without blinking an eye - even more, they have dedicated therapy rooms for onsite therapy for students as needed (not provided by the school but the space is there for any therapists that travel). Her guide/teacher is extremely receptive to our concerns and has already provided us great insights on where she's starting from and where we may want to guide her growth. While they are rooted in AMI-based Montessori philosophy, they have made an intentional decision to consider how technology fits into the Montessori journey and made an entire dedicated space for children to explore and enhance their follow-up work. I truly cannot say enough great things. I cannot wait to see how this year unfolds and how this community grows.
