Parent Reviews
Hedgerow Preschool is indeed a hidden gem that has enriched our family's life in countless ways. From the moment we stepped through its doors, we knew we had found something special. The warm and nurturing environment provided by the dedicated staff has made it a second home for our three children. One of the things that sets Hedgerow apart is its play-based approach to learning. Watching our children explore, create, and discover in such a supportive setting has been truly inspiring. It's evident that Beth and Ty understand the importance of allowing children to learn through hands-on experiences and exploration, and this philosophy has undoubtedly laid a solid foundation for their future academic endeavors. Our three children have learned valuable life skills at Hedgerow, such as problem-solving, cooperation, and empathy, which we believe are essential for success in school and beyond. We also appreciate the intimate size of the school, which allows for personalized attention and a sense of community among students, teachers, and families. The multi-age classrooms have provided our children with the opportunity to learn from one another and develop friendships that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. Furthermore, the diversity of backgrounds represented among the children and families adds richness to the overall experience at Hedgerow. It's heartwarming to see our children learn and grow alongside peers from different cultures and walks of life, fostering a deep sense of acceptance, understanding, and respect for others. Hedgerow Preschool has exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We are grateful for the care, dedication, and passion that Beth and Ty pour into their work each day. Sending our 3 children to Hedgerow has been one of the best decisions we've ever made, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to any family seeking a nurturing and enriching preschool experience for their child.
This school is exactly the kind of school our family dreamed of. We are so grateful to be sending our daughter here. The director and teacher are incredibly attentive, gentle and knowledgeable. The school itself is a sweet bungalow house furnished with all kid friendly furniture and items. The space is quaint but lovely but also very stylish- ha. The children spend most of the day outdoors in the edible garden, playing in the mud kitchen, riding trikes or building. The art studio is a thoughtfully and beautifully designed open air space that allows the children to create on a whim. It is attached to the lunch table which sits on a deck overlooking the garden. The toys provided are not only beautiful but thoughtfully curated to promote an array of play. The school also has an extensive library considering the size of the “campus”. Inside there is a cozy space to snuggle up and read. The families here are great. It’s a small school so it has a real community vibe. The school follows some Waldorf traditions such as an Advent celebration before the holidays. The family gathers are well curated, thought out and sweet celebrations that the children love. And there is the occasional camping trip! The student to teacher ratio is small so the teachers know the children really well. It feels great to send our kid somewhere we trust the staff wholeheartedly. I wish everyone I knew with young children sent their kids here. Play based education is incredibly underrated and these people do it right. I’m so surprised by the skills and knowledge my daughter brings home from “just” playing all day.
