Parent Reviews
Little Munchkins is great! Our daughter attended from age 6 months through age almost 3, and our 17-month old son has been there since he was 9 months old. Each of the teachers they've had has been caring and provided highly tailored attention to our kids, and we like the cozy in-home environment. Given the multiple rooms, LM gives the best of both worlds for in-home daycare (comfortable environment, attention) and a larger daycare center (tighter age groups, support staff for uninterrupted coverage). Highly recommend!
We love Little Munchkins! Our son has been in Miss Selena's care since he was 5 months old, and we couldn't be happier. She creates a fun and caring environment, thoughtfully in tune to his ever-changing needs. As a multi-unit building with a classroom in each, LM creates the perfect balance between the personalized care and intimacy of an in-home daycare with the benefits you get from a center (app updates, assistant teacher support, centralized communication, backup care, etc). We are also proud to support its mission of supporting caregivers; the fact that housing is provided to its teachers was a big selling point for us.
My daughter started attending Little Munchkins when she was 2, and is still a happy student there under Miss Xihen's excellent care. The entire experience, from my first call with the school when I was searching with their staff to our tour, to meeting Xihen, to the care my daughter has received since has all been fantastic. My daughter is learning new things every day, and I'm confident she'll be well prepared for kindergarten when the time comes. Five stars!!
My son attended Little Munchkins Daycare & Preschool for more than a year and a half - he started at around 6.5 months and continued until we moved to Berkeley when he was 2 years and 2 months. Little Munchkins is an excellent daycare - the teachers are great and my son has learned so much during his time there. He's always enjoyed coming to Little Munchkins and I would highly recommend this daycare / preschool to any family looking for childcare. Additionally, the prices are reasonable by San Francisco standards and the hours are great for working families. We will be very sad to leave! Special shout-out to teacher Xihen - our son has really enjoyed being in her class the past several months.
Little Munchkins Daycare & Preschool is the best daycare that I have experienced. It is a small in-home family daycare with one head teacher and only 4 infants or 6 toddlers. I felt like my daughter got a lot more individual attention than at a daycare that we went to later. We went to two of the teachers and know the third room teacher is also amazing. You can tell that all of the teachers generally love their children, and that's the thing I want the most is that my infant felt loved (safety is a given of course!). The Preschool teacher that my daughter went to was so amazing and encouraging at helping my daughter develop at every level that my daughter was at. e.g., taught and encouraged her to use a spoon at 18 months versus a larger daycare that didn't want to bother until the kids were 2.5 or 3 because they were too busy to deal with the messiness with 12 kids. I know other parents feel the same that their kids really blossomed and developed under the teachers care. She's great with teaching all of the things you want your toddlers to learn as well (social emotional learning, alphabet, singing, etc). I haven't come across another preschool where there are only 6 kids to one head teacher who is so amazing and can really individualize their development. All of the rooms also have the most adorable art projects and there's a great outdoor area. For COVID, they are taking all of the precautions that they can (e.g., not even letting kids attend with a runny nose) and having a smaller daycare feels safer than a larger one.
Our daughter started at LM in January of 2020 as a 16 month old. Right before she started she broke her leg so started with a full cast. From the first second of meeting the teachers I felt "at home" and Teacher Rinee was very warm and understanding as we transitioned to a two working parent family with their baby in full time care, with a full leg cast! All the teachers were incredibly supportive as our daughter learned to live in their care with a cast! We feel like we are part of a family at LM, and what's most important to me is that my daughter loves and knows her first little "community" as well. She knows and loves all three teachers and is in Teacher Sarah's classroom now. Teacher Sarah is incredible! We have loved the structure and learning she has provided, we are always surprised with how much our daughter learns when she comes home! Even though she is not in Teacher Sambath's class, Sambath takes the time to get to know my daughter and spends quality time with her when the classes are together. Overall this is an incredibly warm, supportive and loving community and we are so happy this is her first experience with a community! She loves going to school every day!
Our daughter Tavi has been with Sarah for a few months before the Shelter-in-place order came in. She absolutely adored Sarah and all of the kinds. Sarah has created a fun, safe, and friendly environment for the kids, and has been applying excellent hygiene conditions since COVID-19 hit. We are sad to leave, but are moving - otherwise we would love to keep our daughter at Little Munchkins for as long as possible.
Our daughter has been at Little Munchkins with her teacher Sarah since she was 16 months old and now she is 2.5. When you see your daughter 1) instantly take to her teacher and the environment created at Little Munchkins and 2) is so excited to leave for school in the morning, you know something is good. From day-one, there was warmth and professionalism. There's a great routine encouraged: a variation of movement, play (indoor and outdoor), introduction of developmentally appropriate toys over time, varied book collection that is refreshed from frequent visits to the library, attention to dietary needs, tracking of digestion habits, level of hygiene, and ability to moderate challenging toddler behavior with just the right gentle, consistent response. This all only comes from years of experience. Sarah even has the bandwidth to get a group of toddlers out to the park or the library. This outdoor integration is important to me. Personalized reports when I drop-off and pick-up make me feel as if I have been there all day. It's very helpful to see problems before they arise and communicate effectively to ensure all is as it should be. Sarah has been a great coach for me as a first time Mom and my daughter is learning by leaps and bounds. We feel so lucky our daughter is at Little Munchkins!
This is a wonderful family-oriented daycare. Our son has been in Sambath’s class from age 11mos to 19mos. He absolutely loves it and so do we. The kids have fun playing each day and also learn and experience new things - lots of reading, singing, painting, outdoor games, learning to share and play nicely, etc. Sambath is warm and loving, she is always teaching the kids new things, and she communicates well with the parents.
We absolutely love Little Munchkins. Our teacher Sambath is truly a gem. She's warm, patient, with a wonderfully positive attitude. She always keeps you in the loop and thinks 1 step ahead. I feel SO lucky to have my daughter in her care and have seen her thrive and grow so much while attending Little Munchkins. She literally puts on her coat early in the morning because she can't wait to go to school! The kids are active and kept engaged whether from going outside, making art projects, reading books, or listening to music. The whole community at LM is super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend LM to anyone looking for daycare. Your child will be in great hands!
We are very happy with the care and attention our daughter has been getting at little munchkins. She’s been going there for almost a year and a half now, since she was four months old. Teacher Sambath is such an incredible person and educator. She has taught her so many skills all while playing , socializing and having fun. The kids spend time outdoors, doing art, listening to music and learning how to interact with each other. It has made our daughter very kind, happy, considerate and curious. She absolutely loves going to daycare which is the most important thing for us. She just started at the toddler room and I’m very pleased with how the day is structured, the various games and activities they have tailored for older kids and I can’t wait to see how she continues to grow and develop under the care of little munchkins!
We feel so lucky to have found the Little Munchkins family. Our 7 months old son started a month ago in the infant class with Rinee and loves going there. He doesn’t say much yet but his smile greeting her when we drop him and pick him up speak for itself. Rinee is kind, caring and full of ideas/ressources to help him grow. She keeps us informed during the day with the Kinderlime app which has made the transition easy. She is a great partner in introducing solids to him, getting creative when needed! She takes them on walks almost everyday weather permitting, make art with them, plans trips to attend development and music classes, and work as a team with the older infant and toddler classes.
