Our child loves Little Universe Family Childcare. Melanie is a wonderful caregiver, and our daughter always enters and leaves with a big smile on her face. This is our second time starting a child in daycare and while there’s always some initial anxiety, Melanie immediately quelled any worries. Melanie is extremely loving with our daughter, and all the children, and our child became attached quite quickly. Melanie has cuddled her to sleep and calmed her through sickness. It’s clear that our daughter loves Melanie and feels comfortable under Melanie’s supervision. Melanie’s home is clean, orderly, and structured, with safety and learning in mind. The children are given healthy snacks and homemade food. Melanie provides thoughtful learning activities and helps in providing proper boundaries for the children’s social-emotional development. The books and pictures that fill the children’s area represent people from a variety of cultural backgrounds which we see as another plus in our child’s development of cultural competency. We feel like our daughter is growing into someone that is kind and inquisitive and we know that Melanie is playing a big role in that. Melanie also keeps detailed records of what the children eat and drink during the day, diaper changes, and is extremely attentive to any changes in their diets or attitudes. We always get an informative rundown on our daughter’s day and truly trust that Melanie knows our child and is a meaningful and loved presence in her life. Little Universe Daycare is a shining example of what an in-home daycare center can be. Melanie has a passion for early childhood development and is absolutely wonderful with young children. Our daughter was the first child admitted to her program and it was evident from the interview and onboarding process that this was not like other day cares we were considering. Melanie takes great care to understand your child’s current development and will come up with a plan on how best to integrate them into her program. Melanie has cuddled our daughter to sleep when she’s had a difficult day and is having trouble settling in for her nap. She is attentive to the many complex transitions children make during their infant and toddler phases and guides them with poise and compassion. Throughout all of this, Melanie is steady in instilling a sense of routine and order which the children seem to gain confidence from and thrive in. She will work with parents to form a developmental plan and then follow up with regular thorough assessments, showing a clear understanding and commitment to each child’s growth. I have seen tremendous progress from each child admitted to her program and look forward to seeing them grow.
