Miles of Smiles is an exceptional at-home daycare run by the wonderful Miss Amanda. Before my baby was born, I thoroughly researched both center-based and at home daycare options to find the best fit for our family. My decision to choose Miles of Smiles was solidified by my experience with Miss Amanda. From the very start, Miss Amanda impressed me with her outstanding communication skills and her genuine respect for our parenting choices. For instance, my son has zero screen time at home, and Miss Amanda has fully honored this preference for over 2 years now. This level of adherence to our wishes is something I've heard other parents struggle with, especially those whose children are in larger daycare centers or even other home-based setups where screen time is more common. It was, and still is, important to us that our child gets outside play time and not be inside all day. At Miles of Smiles the children go outside everyday (weather & air quality permitting – which I am so happy that she pays attention to these details!) The children have fun splashing in puddles, making mud pies, playing with water on hot days, blowing bubbles, or rolling around in the snow…just to name a few! During times they are inside there are numerous learning opportunities such as, free choice play, arts and crafts, sensory bins, reading books, and other fun activities where the children can learn and explore. She is always very present with the children. Her commitment to a personalized and respectful approach to childcare is truly reassuring. I feel confident and comfortable with my child being in her care. She is very responsive whenever I have reached out to her with a question or to discuss a concern. Another strong asset she possesses is she is understanding and nonjudgmental. She really takes the time to listen and makes sure she fully understands the situation. These qualities are crucial and necessary to maintain an honest and open line of communication. A few other things I feel are worth mentioning because it was very important to us and may be for other parents; Miles of Smile is scent free (no chemical sprays or plugins i.e glade, scented laundry detergent, provider does not wear perfume or scented lotions), no harsh or dangerous cleaning solutions are used, and the yard is not treated with pesticides.
