Nature Kidz Preschool

Description provided by the business.Nature Kidz Preschool is an outdoors-only or forest preschool program. With nature as our classroom, we build our student's focus, curiosity, and intuition as we encounter The Presidio's natural wildlife (bugs, animals, and plant species). Students investigate new findings daily, rain or shine. We think this European-style approach prepares children to transition and thrive into San Francisco's top Kindergarten programs.

Parent Reviews
Our son attended Nature Kidz for a year and when he first started barely spoke at all. All the great activities and out door learning experiences was incredible how quickly he started advancing and speaking was absolutely amazing. He enjoyed all his friends and teachers he had there. And off course what kid wouldn’t want to be outside playing and learning 9 hours a day. Amazing program and amazing people running it. Thank you Nature Kidz
Nature Kidz Preschool is an excellent program. Our 4-yr old toddler has a lot of energy and this program was perfect for him. The kids run around nature all day, climbing trees and playing in parks, exploring nature, and learning how to interact with one another. The teachers are caring and teach kids all sorts of interpersonal skills, as well as arts and crafts. It was a perfect program to transition from preschool to TK.
Joining Nature Kidz has been the best decision we’ve made for our son! He absolutely loves it there, and we couldn’t be happier. The outdoor setting is incredible – the kids spend their days on hikes, going on little adventures, and truly connecting with nature. It’s a small group with an amazing child-to-teacher ratio, which means our son gets all the attention and care he needs. The teachers are truly wonderful – they are not only caring but also help the kids develop their emotional intelligence in such a supportive way. For a child like ours, who needs extra sensory stimulation, Nature Kidz has been perfect. The outdoor environment keeps him engaged and happy, and we’ve seen such positive growth in him. We also really appreciate the fantastic communication with parents. We receive daily photos and weekly newsletters, which keep us updated on all the fun activities. The director and the teachers are also incredibly supportive when it comes to more challenging situations, always offering guidance and help.
Our son started out at Pac Heights Kidz (PHK) and switched over to Nature Kidz (NK) when he was about 3 years old. He was hesitant at first about the switch, but after a few weeks he never looked back. We think our son flourished as a result of his experience with NK, particularly with regards to his confidence, adventurousness, and his situational awareness. We are so happy we were able to put Ryan into a program that offered a great curriculum - combined with an immersive exploratory environment. Both PHK and NK are very well run operations, in my opinion, and both the teachers and administrators were always on top of our son's mental and physical state. We always had opportunities to chat with the teachers about our son's day at the end of school and the more formal "parent teacher" meetings were well structured and very helpful for us to understand how our son was growing and evolving. Towards the end of our time w/ the school, Aaron and Nisha both made it very easy for us to grasp and approach the Kindergarten transition process. It is a very complicated and somewhat intense process here in SF and they made it easy for us to dive into. We really appreciated their guidance, and the care they put into basically teaching us what we need to do. I don't know if other schools put that much effort into "what happens next." We have no regrets about our time and experience with PHK and NK and would highly recommend both to parents.
Both our daughters flourished at Nature Kidz. The staff are deeply caring and committed as well as enthusiastic and fun. We found the curriculum to be so thoughtfully designed and executed and the kids were always very excited about what they were learning. There is a big focus on social and emotional learning and our kids were very invested in their friendships there and being good citizens in their school community. Parents received a weekly email with updates on projects and activities as well as photos of the children. The outdoor component is really magical and helped develop resilience and a great love of nature the being active outdoors. We really couldn't have asked for a better preschool experience.
We can't say enough good things about Nature kids. We have had our 2 kids there and were super sad when we had to move back to Europe and therefor stop after 5 years at Nature kids. The program is amazing. They have a daily program they follow, which is a mix of free play, projects and hikes. The kids learn so much about nature and at the same time develop the skills they need to be ready for kindergarden. They also play sports and do yoga. The teachers are all very loving and are doing a great job. They all became family to us. They meet the kids in the morning with the biggest smile. The go on small hikes mostly around the presidio and if it should rain a lot, then they all meet at Academy of science. They also use the libary once a week. I really have only good things to say about this school and about all the people working there and working behind it.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Nature Kidz. From the moment my daughter started attending, it has been an absolute joy to be a part of this preschool community. The teachers at Nature Kidz are nothing short of amazing. They create a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe and encouraged to explore, learn, and grow. My daughter has formed special bonds with the teachers, and their genuine care and support have been instrumental in her development. The administrators at NK go above and beyond to ensure that the students and families feel supported. They are always available to address any concerns or questions. Their commitment to the well-being of both students and parents is truly remarkable. We love the outdoor program and my daughter absolutely loves spending time there too, exploring nature, and learning about the world around her. The well-organized field trips have been a source of excitement and adventure for her, and they enhance her learning experience in a meaningful way. The curriculum is incredibly thoughtful and well-rounded. It is designed to stimulate young minds while fostering creativity and a love for learning. My daughter has not only thrived, but has also developed important social and emotional skills that will serve her well in the future. Nature Kidz has exceeded our expectations in every way. The wonderful teachers, caring administrators, engaging outdoor program, and thoughtful curriculum all come together to create a truly exceptional preschool experience. My daughter looks forward to going to Nature Kidz, and as a parent, I couldn't be happier.
Thank you Zona for your wonderful words! We are so happy that parents like you trust us with your most precious children!
Just wanted to take a moment to show my appreciation for the amazing years our kids have spent with Nisha and her staff of supportive and engaging teachers at both PHK and Nature Kidz. My older daughter and younger son each started at PHK as baby bears when they were around 18 months. The teachers were all very committed and engaged often going above and beyond, showing their love and devotion to the students by turning up as bday party guests on their days off! They have a great curriculum of actives, focusing on music, science, language and cultural appreciation. They adapted their topics each month based on the children's interests and invited community guests to come and share with the students (local dentists and firefighters etc!). They make learning fun, focusing on a different country each month, encouraging families to share their traditions and perspectives. Over the years our kids moved up with the cohorts of their peers from Astronaut school, to Racecar school, to the great outdoors of Mountain Lake park. Our last couple years with Nature Kidz was such a blessing and I look back now so grateful for the time spent outside on hikes enjoying nature, doing projects, climbing trees, going on field trips to the Academy of science, the library, and the beach. I loved that the kids got to play outside and experience yoga, soccer, bikes & scooters but also still learned letters and rhyming and more traditional indoor classroom topics with their clipboards and blankets! Nisha and Marinelle put a lot of effort and time into building a tightknit community. The teachers posts photos daily and send email updates which were always fun to look at and chat about together with my kids. Throughout the year, the school hosted fun events parents were encouraged to attend during the holidays. They always plan special activities for Mother's day and Father's day and host school wide events for families to get to know each other. We have made some of our closest friends through our PHK community of families. They make the kids feel special and appreciated celebrating their birthdays and planning a big graduation ceremony each year for the students leaving for Kindergarten! I am so grateful to Nisha, Aaron, teacher Chris, Orrapan, Luis, Yare, Alexis, Jazmine, Marinelle and the whole gang! We miss you all dearly! Here is pics of my son having the best time.
Thank you so much for your kind words Amy! We miss Ada and Otto!
