Our family’s experience at School for Amazing Kids in Calera was heartbreaking and deeply disappointing. My son, Jimmie Kihara, was enrolled with the trust that the center would uphold its own health and safety policies, CDC guidelines, and the values they promote publicly. Unfortunately, that trust was broken. After my child contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease at the school, he was excluded from school photos, mishandled during his illness, and eventually removed from the school in direct violation of their own handbook policy, which clearly states children are not to be dismissed until a Wednesday if payments aren’t made. He was removed on a Monday — an act of retaliation after I raised concerns about their health protocols and the safety of the environment. What’s worse is the emotional toll it took not only on my child, but on our entire family. This wasn’t just poor customer service — this was a complete breakdown of care, professionalism, and basic human decency. Despite multiple attempts to address the matter respectfully and privately, we were met with silence and dismissal. Parents deserve to know the truth. We deserved better. My son deserved better.
