Parent Reviews
My son is in Preschool with KinderCare and currently enrolled in multiple Learning Adventures classes. It truly is an adventure for him. My husband and I enjoy hearing the stories that he comes home to share about what foods and ingredients that he learned about during Cooking class. He always has a smile when he talks about the textures, tastes, and smells he discovers. And he wants to help more at home with cooking meals! We can also see the difference that just a few months of Phonics classes has made with his letter reckognition, writing, and word phrasing. He genuinely loves showing off how well he can write his name. Because he loves the other Learning Adventure classes, we just enrolled him in the Music class also and he absolutely adores it! He has so much fun singing and playing instraments with his friends. Learning Adventures has been a blessing for our family just through the experiences that our little one brings home everyday. We will definitely be signing up our next child in Learning Adventures.
Dear Prospective Shelbyville Road KinderCare Families, You are probably in the midst of selecting daycare centers by speaking with families, visiting Preschools or daycare centers, reading online reviews, and the like. We could have written an online review about our experiences at this daycare, but decided the extraordinary caretaking and compassion shown to our family by the Shelbyville Road KinderCare deserved this letter. In brief, the Shelbyville Road KinderCare delivers on its promises and goes the extra mile to care for both your child and your peace of mind. The director and teachers at the Shelbyville Road KinderCare built real relationships with our family. Staff members learned that we are a bit neurotic and sometimes called us just to let us know our son was having a good day; likewise, teachers called if they suspected something was wrong with our son. It was not uncommon for the teachers to identify an illness before we did! Once, our son remained in Louisville with family who took him to KinderCare during the day while we were out of town for an extended period of time. Some of the teachers would voluntarily text us pictures of our son, to keep our worried minds at ease. Moreover, the staff developed a caring relationship with our son. Every day we would drop him off staff members warmly welcomed him into his classroom. Our son loved his teachers too, as evidenced by his smiles and laughter when he saw them. While searching for daycare centers we were also curious to know how the teachers would facilitate our son's learning. Some daycare centers we visited had a difficult time explaining this to us while others just showed us a book saying, "That's our curriculum." At the Shelbyville Road KinderCare it was crystal clear that a coherent learning program existed; and, both the director and teachers could articulate what the program entailed. Children learned social skills through playing within small groups, even in the infant room! Each child receives an individualized learning plan and parents received notes from teachers about their child's progress. The series of lessons are not haphazardly thrown together, but are part of a larger curriculum that is grounded in research-based theories of learning. Most impressively, the director also knew what each child was learning, in addition to the child’s teachers. It is certainly noteworthy that the vision of learning is so well understood by both directors and teachers. Finding this degree of coherence in learning, at any level, is a rarity. We have been K-12 teachers, education consultants, specialists for the Kentucky Department of Education, and educational researchers. Based on what we know about learning and educational organizations, like the Shelbyville Road KinderCare, we believe your family will be hard pressed to find a better daycare for your child.
