Parent Reviews
SOMA has been an incredibly special place for our family and, most importantly, for our son . We joined the SOMA community after moving to San Francisco from Houston, and it was a year filled with big changes and emotions for our little one. From day one, the teachers at SOMA welcomed him with open arms, creating a warm, nurturing, and joyful environment where he could truly thrive. The care, empathy, and intention the staff brings to each child is remarkable. The teachers took the time to understand our son as an individual—his personality, his sensitivities, his interests—and supported him through his transitions with patience and love. Under their guidance, we saw him blossom socially, emotionally, and intellectually. He is always full of stories about his teachers and friends. SOMA is more than just a preschool—it's a place that values connection, creativity, and growth. We’re so grateful to the entire team for such a strong and loving foundation. While we’re sad to be leaving due to a move, SOMA will always have a very special place in our hearts.
By Far one of the Best Preschools and Daycares in San Francisco. These ladies give so much love to my twins. They take pictures and videos and send them to all the parents daily. They have puppet shows, dance and freeze, cooking classes. So many fine motor skills games and activities! Great hours & great staff! You feel safe and secure at drop off and pick up knowing the babies are in such an intellectually stimulating environment❤️
Our daughter started at SOMA when she was 2 years 10 months and is still in the school today at age 4.5. From the very first day, our experience has been absolutely wonderful! This is all thanks to the incredible efforts of teachers Ngoc, Kelly, Tiana, Geraldine, Izabella, and Chloe. Some highlights: 1. I assume other parents, like us, are nervous about the transition from home care to preschool. The teachers at SOMA made this incredibly easy. After dropping our daughter on the first day, she was so happy and really never looked back! SOMA also took care of us parents that first week, sending super frequent, individualized updates to put us at ease. 2. Our daughter LOVES going to school. It's really a testament to the environment the teachers create at SOMA. She loves the teachers and has formed such cute bonds with them. I've heard from tons of parents how dropoff can be a daily burden, but we've never experienced this! 3. The teachers do a great job sending daily updates on what the children did, along with numerous pictures and videos of the day's activities. I continue to be impressed by the creativity of the curriculum. The kids do such cool things. A quick sample off the top of my head: a unit about traveling the world, learning to run a smoothie stand business, various hands-on science experiments, yoga, dancing, etc. 4. Every 6 months, we've had a parent-teacher conference on our daughter's progress. The teachers prepare a whole slide deck just about your kid, including detailed anecdotes (with video clips!) of how your kid is learning. 5. I've never heard of families leaving SOMA because of their experience with the school. If families leave, it's always because of some other life circumstance. We have kept in touch with a few of these families, and they almost universally speak of SOMA more favorably than their new school. SOMA really is a magical place!
We sent our daughter to Soma preschool and we loved the experience. The teachers are tireless, creative, kind and caring to the degree that our daughter was drawing them in cute faces and colorful drawings and was talking about them all the time. The environment is healthy and friendly. Our daughter made so many good friends there. The school is very inclusive and inviting to all different cultures and reflects this inclusivity on the kids as well. They encourage involvement of parents of any backgrounds to participate in activities and bring different cultural education to their school. We highly recommend Soma preschool.
SOMA Daycare is more than just a daycare, it's a nurturing haven! My daughter thrived in their loving environment. Teachers Kelly, Ngoc, Geradine, and Tiana showered the kids with care, and my daughter constantly woke up excited to see them. The activities were fantastic! From weekly cooking classes and music sessions to dance, reading, and yoga, face painting there was always something engaging to spark their curiosity. SOMA even incorporated the nearby park, teaching valuable street smarts like navigating crosswalks. We recently had to relocate, and leaving SOMA was heartbreaking. My daughter still talks about her teachers and friends! If you're searching for a daycare that prioritizes both play and learning in a warm, nurturing environment, look no further than SOMA. Absolutely recommend!
SOMA Daycare & Preschool is truly one of the best in the city, and I cannot say enough good things about it. My toddler has been attending for a year, but we've seen him grow in so many ways and is thriving. The teachers here really treat all the kids like family, and there's nothing more special to know your kid is well taken care of and having the time of their lives. Just a few things that really make this daycare / pre-school stand out: 1) Dedication of the teachers - everyone here is so committed to creating the best environment for the kids so they can discover what they love and learn, grow, and thrive. My kiddo has some developmental delay with speech, and the teachers have all been so encouraging and always ask how they can help him progress. They go out of their way to make every kid feel special - e.g., celebrating birthdays, graduations, etc. I truly believe every child who goes here feel so loved by all the teachers! 2) Safe environment - they are always on top of protocols and make every effort to keep the kids as safe as possible at all times, including COVID days. 3) Curriculum - they put so much thought, energy, and passion into curating activities for all the kids. They seriously learn and do so much!! They find the most creative ways to keep the kids engaged. 4) Communication - teachers are always super transparent and you are always in the know of what's going on, which has been so helpful for me as a parent. Parents get daily notifications and pictures of their child too. 5) Community - I've been at other daycares before, and it was a little hard to bond with other parents since everyone is usually in a rush to get in and out. But no here at SOMA daycare & preschool! They bring all the parents together for events and activities once in awhile, and it's been so nice to get to know the parents of kids my little guy plays with everyday. The sense of community is so strong here. Cannot recommend this place enough!
My child had a great time at SOMA. We decided to send our 2 year-old to SOMA during covid, I was worried it was too early for her but it turned out to be the best decision. Teachers are friendly, passionate, energetic, and really caring. All teachers are well trained (you can tell that they invested in every teacher). During covid the school was managed well too. My daughter went home happily everyday since day 1 and in the past year, she developed very well! She now can count numbers, recognize letters, colors, tell stories, etc. and most importantly she was well taught to behave when interacting with others. We moved out of the city so we had to leave SOMA, which made my daughter a little upset. But we like SOMA so much and thinking of maybe going back in the future ! No other daycare is like SOMA as far as we know.
