Parent Reviews
St. James number one asset, by far, is the way in which the community of families show up to support the total organization (school & church). It's a 'home' where parents of current or future students, can expect an elite education, delivered by leaders (leadership, staff, & teachers) who truly care & are invested in your children, imbedded in a Christian worldview perspective, and all wrapped into a growth mindset. St. James is also a place you can have a 'real' conversation with your Pastor, challenge your Principal (and she'll listen), and engage in authentically fun social experiences. It's a tough place to beat.
We have 3 children at St. James currently who all started in Pre-K. I love how connected the younger students become with the older students and the entire school is so welcoming across all the grade levels. I love the community- the parents, kids and teachers all support and encourage each other. It truly is a special place that can be hard to find in a big city .
For us, the strong sense of community tops the list, but right there with it would have to be watching my kids run into the building every morning (usually with a friend they spotted on the sidewalk, and grabbing a quick hug or high five from Ms. Minogue on the way in), knowing that they feel safe, comfortable, and happy there... they feel at home. When we hear them say things like "I always want to go to St. James", it makes us feel, as parents, that we have made the best decision for our kids and our family.
This is our fifth year at St. James, and we are really happy with our experience. Our kids have built strong relationships with their classmates, teachers, and the entire St. James staff. The school's commitment to supporting the whole person gives us confidence in the education and experiences are children are receiving. This year is particularly exciting with new investments in facilities, extracurricular activities, and educational and emotional enrichment programs. We expect our family to stay in this community long term.
All three of my children attended St. James from pre-school, tow of which attended through 8th grade and one who is in middle school. They are very different children and St. James provided a caring, nurturing environment for them to learn and grow. We could not be happier with the decision we made as two of the children are now in top high schools in the state with strong grades, so St. James gave them a great foundation not only to become good people, but to have excellent academic performance in high school and on standardized testing.
