Parent Reviews
A good place for your kids to catch up and learn advanced stuff as well. The kids here get to meet several tutors depending on the time and the tutors keep a journal of each child's lesson and progress. The scheduling was flexible and prompt. Michelle and Yulnique were friendly and responsive and my child had good learning experience here.
I had the pleasure of connecting with Michelle the end of last year to support William on his reading and math journey, and I'm truly grateful we crossed paths. From our very first conversation, it was clear that William had potential he just needed the right environment, support, and consistency to help him thrive. One of our first steps was increasing the frequency of his reading sessions, which means we had william in tutoring 3 days a week (Monday-Wednesday) for a hour each day and we increased his tutoring to 3 days (Monday-Wednesday) a week, 2 hours on 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) and keeping 1 hour on the last session (Wednesday) of his weeks (one hour each week of his tutoring session is dedicated to math). We decided that in order to get him on board with math that his reading needed to increase to be able to successfully complete math because reading ties into every subject there is. By July, the results spoke for themselves; William had jumped a whole grade level in reading! That kind of progress doesn't happen overnight, and it certainly wouldn't have happened without the structured approach we implemented together. A huge part of that progress came from the reading log Michelle introduced. William reads every night for 30 minutes. He also goes to the library to pick out his own books that sparks interest for him. It has completely transformed William's mindset toward reading. He's now taking ownership of his reading time; eagerly sharing what he's read, holding himself accountable when he misses a day, and making it a point to catch up. He even goes into the office excited to tell Michelle about his progress, and it's truly amazing to witness his transformation. What's equally important is the consistency. We've made sure William attends every session and if he has to miss due to personal reasons then we make sure to reschedule his sessions as makeup so he gets every minute of learning and it's become clear just how much that regularity matters. As Michelle often says: Trust the Process. That message has resonated with William, and it's showing in the confidence he now carries with him. Thinking back to where he started hesitant and unsure and seeing where he is now is nothing short of inspiring. He's developing not only as a reader but as a self-motivated learner. I'm so proud of his growth and so thankful for the guidance, care, and commitment Michelle has poured into him. This is the kind of impact that lasts a lifetime.
I highly recommend Ms. Michelle Blackmon and her entire team at Sylvan (Zoe, Melanie, Erica, Kariman, etc). My kids love the familiar faces of their teachers and the supportive small group learning environment. As parents, we've seen the progress they've made not only in the skills they've learned through the Sylvan program, but also in their confidence when they apply their new skills at school. Thank you to Sylvan Learning for continuing to be part of our learning journey!
I highly recommend Sylvan learning in Cary. Michele, the director is always so accommodating with our hectic schedules and provides us with guidance and a positive experience in our sons learning. She has even gone out of her way to make sure that we could take advantage of the fall promotion and called me on her day off to make sure my paperwork was in order & if I had any questions. She has gone over and beyond for my family and I can't thank her and her staff enough. AND the bonus is that my son loves going there 4 days a week & is thriving. Thank You!
I love James and Maria and Abby and they are helping me do sat work. They are nice and helpful. More helpful than my teachers
My children have been attending since July and have continued to show progress through there learning plan. Staff is friendly and the kids always look forward to going. The director is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I also live that if my kid has to miss a day I can do a makeup.
My six-year old began tutoring at Sylvan to help him with reading as he entered first grade. After only 3 months of tutoring with Miss Melanie at Sylvan, he was nearly caught up to grade level, gained confidence in himself, began to enjoy books, and his academics soared along with his reading skills. We can't thank Sylvan and Miss Melanie enough for all they did to help my son build the skills he needed to read!
Sylvaan SAT Prep is a great program with amazing teachers. Nicholas, James, and Abigail are all very helpful and supportive. I highly recommend it to anyone preparing for the SAT.
Sylvan and Ms. Michelle have really helped my son to feel more confident for his EOG testing, making his math understanding to a higher level!

The team at this Sylvan center creates a supportive, encouraging learning environment that truly helps students grow in both skills and confidence. We've seen meaningful academic improvement over time, and the communication and professionalism from staff have been excellent throughout. Director Michelle and Assistant Director's Yulnique's leadership stands out. We highly recommend this center to families looking for consistent, high-quality academic support.
We have a child with special needs who is being homeschooled because public schools could not provide a reasonable accommodation. Our child has been taking classes at the Sylvan Center for almost 1 year now, and we used their testing as a reference point to ensure his continued academic growth. Miss Jayne is our son's teacher. She tailored lessons to his needs and established a routine order of tasks, alternating between instructions, tests, correction of errors, performing new assignments related to errors, and switching to the next topic within the same blocs of tasks. The curriculum is not rigid and focuses on identifying and eliminating knowledge gaps. We also provide feedback about topics he is struggling with. The child can return to the old topic if needed, or continue with one topic for a few lessons until the desired skills are mastered. It looks like my son rarely needs that, but it is great that the measure of success is children's results, not merely the fact that the teacher covered the topic, as you would have in public school. He takes Math and Reading (Comprehension/Vocabulary). In Math he is one year ahead of his grade, and we see that by using higher-grade practice materials at home. With reading, he has challenges. He reads extremely fast but struggles to summarize the story, though he can demonstrate a medium score on multiple-choice tests. He definitely needs help with advanced vocabulary, since we do not speak English at home. Even though he needs more practice in Reading, we have noticed improvements in his comprehension and vocabulary scores on tests he takes at home, as well as in his ability to discuss his geography lessons. The teacher also marked his progress. It is great that the center works with kids with special needs and accepts that the child may lose focus at times and may need to switch to a more engaging activity or take a short break. We receive teacher notes after every lesson outlining the topics covered, the student's performance, and any behavioral challenges. This allows us to discuss behavior at home, reward him for successes, and adjust his home curriculum. We think classes at Sylvan, in our case with Miss Jayne, greatly support our child's educational needs, supplement homeschooling well, and give him the attention he could not get at the public school. Thanks!
