My daughter has been attending Sylvan since June of 2022, and I must say that Mark and Amy Kance are phenomenal! My daughter truly enjoys spending her time with the instructors, and the benefits of the instruction that they provide are quite evident in her school work, her reading, as well as her spelling, not to mention her confidence! For years, I had asked her teachers if tutoring would be a good idea, and each year, the teachers would tell me they were handling it, and eventually she would make the progress needed. Please do not get me wrong, my daughter has had some absolutely amazing teachers that worked well with her, however, she just needed some additional help to get to the root of it. If you are ever in question about a similar situation, call Mark, he will take the time necessary to explain the details of their program and let you know how many hours of instruction they will need to accomplish their goals. He speaks honestly and does not sugar coat these important details. Needless to say, Sylvan is getting her where she needs to be, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone that is struggling. At Sylvan, they live by their word. They are extremely organized and personable. They truly take the needs of each child and focus solely on those needs. They are not interested in wasting time teaching things that your children are proficient at. They do not just let children slide by a lesson. They challenge them everyday! Their token reward system is wonderful as well. My daughter loves being able to shop at the store for doing well. They are absolutely wonderful at doing what they do! They have the most flexible scheduling I have ever seen and will do whatever it takes to meet your needs as a parent, while also creating a fun, entertaining, and healthy environment for your children. At Sylvan they also provide monthly updates on your child's progress and hours of instruction. They provide feedback directly from their certified teachers and let you know exactly how much progress is being made so that you can be assured that the time and effort, not to mention, financial responsibly, that you and your child are putting into the program is absolutely worth it. I have spoken to many of the staff members at Sylvan, and I can honestly say that they seem to really enjoy their positions, which speaks volumes about the company and people they are working with. I appreciate all of the effort that all of the teachers put in on a daily basis: Ms. Stacy, Ms. Lauren, and Ms. Rebecca, as well as many others are absolutely wonderful to work with. My daughter looks forward to her lessons, and that also speaks volumes about the culture at Sylvan. My only wish is that I had reached out to Mark and Amy sooner! They are changing my daughters life and I could not be more grateful to them and Sylvan as a whole. I am so proud to be a part of the Sylvan Family.

I've been going to Sylvan for a few months now, and it's helped me a lot. I used to struggle with math and felt behind in class, but the tutors explain things in a way that actually makes sense. They're patient and never make you feel bad for asking questions. The sessions are structured but relaxed — it doesn't feel like school. They teach at your level and gradually build up the difficulty, so you really see improvement. Highly recommend!

My husband and I could not be happier with our decision to send our daughter to the Sylvan learning center over the last 13 months. We determined our daughter needed a bit of extra help in reading and writing and wanted to get her caught up to her grade level. We did some research on tutoring centers in the area and were impressed with the reviews we saw for Mark and his team at Sylvan. We went in for an initial consultation – they made our daughter feel very comfortable throughout the process. Mark was able to lay out a blueprint to get her caught up to speed. We were impressed with the clear path he outlined, and the care for the children he clearly had. Over the last year, our daughter has been going to the center three days per week, for two hour sessions. The results were amazing – we saw her scores on the state-wide tests improve so dramatically and we watched her do better in school. Most importantly, we saw her confidence increase and her excitement for learning grow. For a 12 year old to go to tutoring three days a week, without complaining, is the greatest testimony to the center. When picking up our daughter from her sessions, we would find her laughing and smiling while getting instruction from her tutors. She would always say that they “made it fun.” Throughout the year-long process, Mark would take the time to meet with us monthly, to review her progress, give us feedback, and ask if there was anything he could do further to help us. Now that our daughter is caught up, we feel confident that she will do well in the coming years. We valued the experience at Sylvan so much, that we know they will be our first call if any extra help is needed in the future. We are very pleased with our decision to send our son to Sylvan for SSAT preparation. While the SSAT was not listed on their website, I called to inquire and learned that they do offer support for this high school entrance exam. Our son took a practice test and didn't score as well as he had hoped on the math portion. Mark recommended focusing on math preparation only, explaining that additional reading classes weren't necessary. We really appreciated his honesty and the fact that he tailored the plan to our goals rather than suggesting unneeded sessions. Sylvan created a three-class a week program to fit our three-week timeline, and it truly paid off. Thanks to the team Mark, Bill and Rebecca - our son not only improved his math skills but also built confidence and learned valuable test-taking strategies. His actual SSAT score increased significantly, and he achieved an excellent overall result. We highly recommend Sylvan to any family looking for personalized, effective test preparation.
