Both of our children have participated in tutoring with Sylvan of Yorktown and benefited tremendously! The lead staff are all current or former educators who have a firm grasp on what children need to learn and grow in their confidence as scholars. The enrichment program aided our son in having a firm foundation in expository writing that has allowed him to excel in middle school. It's definitely worth the investment.
I can't even express how happy I am with Sylvan. My daughter has been struggling with school. She is working on both reading and math and actually enjoys going each day. She has wonderful teachers that are able to figure out how to explain the information so that she understands. She has only been going for a short time and I can't wait to see how much more she improves.
I can't express how happy I am with Sylvan. I sent my daughter here to help with her reading towards the end of last summer. She started off below grade level in reading. 2 grades behind. She hated reading. Their assessment really showed me how much she was struggling and how low her confidence was. She was going twice a week for the entire school year. Mid way through the year she had already reached grade level reading based on a school bench mark test. I saw improvements before that time. She had so much fun going. The teachers are so wonderful. The program my daughter was using was so much fun to her. She never complained about going. In fact, she looked forward to going. My daughter loves to read now. We go to the library every other week. She is willing to read to me. I can't thank the staff enough for all they did for my daughter and working with me. We are taking a break for now, but I know we will be back. My daughter can't wait to go back. She wants to do their math program now.
I have had two children go to Sylvan and both benefitted from the learning. My daughter is 7 and loves going there. She followed her brother to the gifted center and we are so proud of her and thankful for Sylvan.
In a few short weeks, I have already seen a confidence boost in our son. He is eager to attend and thoroughly enjoying his experience.
My sons have been with Sylvan since summer of 2025. The improvements in their Reading, Writing, and Math are outstanding. I receive progress reports regularly so I know what topics my boys have studied and are working on. I highly recommend Sylvan Learning of Yorktown.
