As children transition from the Nido program to our Preschool program, they enter a phase of the curriculum that builds upon on their expanded vocabulary. Collaboration and communication become the cornerstones of all activities. Within this framework, children are prompted to engage in small peer groups, fostering the exploration, design, and presentation of their projects. This approach encourages learners to formulate hypotheses, investigate processes, and draw conclusions, empowering them to articulate and defend ideas, building confidence in their ability to formulate individual opinions and become the authors of their own learning journeys. Explorations are based upon long term projects throughout the year, allowing students to build upon previously mastered concepts, deepening their ability to learn. Through these interdisciplinary projects, children engage in foundational learning skills such as math, science, social studies, and language arts in meaningful ways.

Nido

Nido, which means “nest” in Italian, perfectly describes the nurturing setting for our youngest learners. At this stage, small children are seen as explorers and scientists. The multi-sensory navigations of their environment, the spontaneity of observing, the desire to experience life with and through their body and the pleasure of enjoying human development in a natural way are the focus of our curriculum. A successful early learning environment fosters a community marked by meaningful relationships among young children and the adults in their lives—parents, teachers, and caregivers. These connections flourish through shared learning experiences in nature and through emotional connections. The community cultivates and sustains developmentally appropriate conditions that enable children to optimize their individual potential. Voluntary Pre-K (VPK)

By the time our daycare students reach our VPK/ PreK class, they are ready for the most exciting adventure they will ever know: the world of learning to read. Each child learns the letters and their sounds, slowly finding these treasures in their own worlds. With the loving hand of their teachers, the knowledge is imparted through playtime and art, and music, and dance. All the while, with the warm nurturing of their teachers, they also learn about how to be friends, and develop the morals and integrity they will carry with them as they enter the world of elementary education. By graduation day, they proudly walk down the aisle in their caps and gowns and receive not only a giant hug from their teachers, but also a diploma saying they are ready for Kindergarten.

Discovery Preschool

Preschool program designed to create a strong academic and social foundation. Teachers introduce math, literacy, and science. Activities also include music, movement, art, pretend play, and group games. Children become an active part of their classroom community.

Pre-K/VPK

Voluntary prekindergarten (VPK) is a state program designed to prepare every child in Florida for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. VPK gives each child an opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life with quality programs that include high literacy standards, accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, lower class sizes and qualified instructors. All eligible children are entitled to participate in one of three VPK program options. The VPK mission is to ensure that all children are intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically ready to enter school and ready to learn, fully recognizing the crucial role of parents as their child’s first teacher.

Preschool

Our three-year-old class soars with energy and wonder. What used to be the Pre-K curriculum is now the three year old's stronghold. Developing the skills they will use to read and write is only the beginning of the learning to come. Each child is enveloped with the building blocks to reading and writing.
